imo this life aint about learning about the universe, we will live no longer than 125 years, we cant even learn all the things on earth in that time, and dont forget old age memory loss. imo this life is about serving God and in eternity we learn about the rest of Gods creation with the correct means to do so.
hahaha .. these question are excellent. however, that is up to God. Since God is an independant individual, His thought are only His and not ours. Therefore, to fully understand the reason of creation is up to debate. however, as a Christian, that isn't very taunting and demanding to answer. since we do believe in a Heaven and God's presence to be there. then we will simply ask Him that quesiton on that day. -^_^ like the original intent for the thread ... what is the biggest concern for Christians is the aspect of death and the life that proceed after it. science state physical life cease to exist after death, however, they deny the aspect of human personality and thought. and that is where religion comes in.
So there goes "God is beyond comprehension" but I let you off the hook as it doesn't get neither of us (nor the discussion) anywhere to comprehend given the premise "God is beyond comprehension" Anyways. Okay, master_g and apollon. As long as we understand each other, we understand each other remarkably well considering the circumstances don't you think? We can just keep on thinking each other as insane in believing what we believe in respectively. Since there's no way to prove or disprove the existence of afterlife, I personally call that the biggest wishful thinking human ever created collectively. But whatever floats your boat. *shrugs*
B-rain, i am sorry, i did not consider how offensive my comment could be.. i know there is nothing i can do to alleviate this offensive statement, but i want to honestly apologize for that offensive post i made.. i was trying to reduce the tension going on in this thread, but it seems like i have failed... and i am truly sorry for offending you..
ok. God's love is unconditional love. When that is said, it means that God's love can forgive all sin ... and no matter what an individual has done in his/her life, they are able to receive salvation if they truely believe in Jesus Christ. Rite, there is only one way in Christianity to have salvation; however isn't that the same for all religion. In Buddhism, reincarantion is the only way to be rid of sin, and Islam, the amount of acts in repentance is the grant for salvation. so, there is only one way to receive salvation ... however anyone and everyone is able to receive it. Jesus is God. Well, that is explain with the idea of the Trinity. i am preparing to make a thread devoted to explaining this and other topics about Christianity ... so i'll explain it then. sorry, hiake.
@master_g: Well, all a matter of literal exaggeration, I can assure you. @apollon: Why say sorry? It's fine.
well i think babyrain had a good point, master said God of the universe. but then said you soul may depend on it. i'm a Christian and think it be better to say God if you mean God too. i'm a Christian and i understand the mind set to get the word out there. and that's good but unless someone ask's am i going to hell. i wouldn't try to fit that in there.lol i went to someone geting put in the ground once, where this guy was saying how they loved one. had went to hell because he didn't beleve in God,and how they should get saved before they go there to.lol i wanted to beat his ass, because here's a man telling this famly that there love one is in hell. i'm not saying that's what your doing, but i think you wouldn't even be have this much stuff going on. if you just stop saying stuff like your going to hell,or your soul may burn in hell. we aren't God,and i know i beleve a lil bit dift than you. but God is love and care's,if he want's someone to beleve he'll make it happen. until then nothing you going to say is going to change anybody's mind here. so just try to respect there beleve because in there eye's we're wrong. but there not saying we going to burn in hell. just reamber God give everyone a chance, you don't have to make a chance for them but hay what do i know who know's.lol but does it sound right to try to scare someone into a fath. that's why God gave us free will where we can love him or not. let's all try to see each other's beleve's with a open mind. don't mean we need to beleve it,but let's respect it be cool
Hey mgfcortez, nice to hear from you. i will happily talk about the mercies of God but i will also talk about the judgement of God. it may sound bad but i aint going to compromise or hold back certain teachings of the bible. besides if a person doesn't believe what i say then i dont know how it will frighten them. at the end of the day, as a Christian i will never stop saying Jesus is the only way, and i wont stop talking about the result of not accepting Jesus according to my beliefs, it wont make me popular but im not hear to be popular. but i do understand what your saying mgfcortez.
Can I just make sth clear here. I have NO bones whatsoever to pick with you M_G when you said Jesus is the only way or what not. I have come to accept that's what you are going to say. But, I just can't refrain from saying sth, if you, tell someone, "Put aside religion" and then in the next line, "If not, your putting ur eternal life at stake" it just seemed to me, your a wolf in sheep's clothing.. lol It's like you putting on a fake front telling people, come on, let's believe in sth, but put aside religion, believe in GOD OF THE UNIVERSE... then in the next line, you come up with eternal damnation. How gay is that? If instead, you say, "Believe in christianity, or you r putting ur eternal life at stake!" then I got nothing to comment
but you have to understand something, BabyRain. in Christianity, when you come before God and truely want to understand Him. You will see your sins and faults in light of His glory and infinite holiness. Therefore, the topic of eternal damnation will immediately arise in your mind. So in a sense, master_g will trying to state that come with an open-mind to view God and then in doing so, you will see the redemption and salvation that is spoken so often by the Christians.
In fact I think open-minded and Christianity is an oxymoron when put together. Intolerant, oppressing, how open-minded is that? And really, asking others to be open-minded to follow an oppressing organization. I wonder if I am the only person who find it ironic...
@Apollon: How can you relate to Christianity when YOU said "PUT ASIDE RELIGION"??? i am sorry u just lost me there... In the first line, he asked someone to put aside religion, that would include CHRISTIANITY, no? Unless ur tellin me christianity is NOT a religion. <_<
OK i wasnt going to do this im going to explain what i meant. i assumed the person i was talking to had no previous religious belief. because of that i asked her to put religion aside (i.e what she has been told by others) and simply seek the God of the universe. i said God of the universe because i am not talking about A god but THEE GOD from the perspective of a Christian. the bible says if a person truly seeks God, they will find him. if Jesus comes to this person and it DOES happen, then its only logical for that person to learn his ways from the word of God. i truly believe Christianity is NOT a religion but a relationship with God, people make it into a religion with denominations and whatever.
And how exactly, pray tell, did Christianity evolved from a "relationship with God" into the largest organized cult ever existed? Christianity is the name given to the God- fearing (or loving, doesn't matter) collective, not the individual's relationship with God.
