I have broadband and it's awesome, but I think my phone company is ripping me off. I'm paying for the 3mb/sec. line and I'm only getting 800kb/s down and about 2mb/s up and it stays near the 800kb/s most of the time. NorthEastern United States' VERIZON Co. YOUR COMPANY SUCKS ARSE; so yeah -nono

I cannot possibly IMAGINE anyone WANTING to remain on dial up if they can afford broadband...

So it's not quite a preference, it's more like "can you afford it" question.

And yes, I love my broadband dearly.

I have had dial up back in the days... around 96 I guess???

Then I switched to "broadband", was the first wave of DSL/ADSL home users...

I still cannot believe some people use dial-up. I've done some homework and found that the average dial-up user pays about $9-12 a month for dial-up. I pay $14 a month for broadband.

Dial-up is really practical for emergency and short interval.

Broadband if you can get it for a reasonable price at where you live. I know people
that uses satellite "broadband" for that is their only option at that location.

I am using Cable. How do you change your IP address? I am sick of the megaupload download limit.

I use rapget which enables to just copy the link and then leave my computer on and do the downloading automatically. It follows the same hr. limit except it bypasses the need to input password manually.

dial up is for light surfing(e.g. email),while broadband is for heavy surfing(e.g. downloading big files). when you have try broadband ,you wouldn't want to be on dial up ever again.

been surfing the net since 96' and the evolution of the net is amazing.
