the best software to use is the one offered by microsoft anyways money slang "yet pai" - $10000 "yet ho" - $1000 "yet gau sui" - $100
mcdull loves to say this....and i have a few 'choi nei dou sang chao wu'- my armpit will be smelly if i talk to you..often used in a harsh manner to ignore people...lol tah k lun/ ta che lun-- french kissing 'fei dim ying fai cai' - extraordinarily useless (used to describe a person who likes to talk nonsense and crap) fan cheong, dan san(mini/ crushed egg tart)--a harsh way to address a person...
^and its constantly changing...like when i was younger to go out was "chut hui wet" now its "chut hui po"
I've heard of that 'Chut Hui Wet' too but never the latter one...hmm this makes me feel old. :( But what does that 'wet' means? Is it something derived from another Chinese or English word? Anyone know?
^ the chut hui po...just started about a year or 2 ago....language in hong kong moves to fast to actually keep up less u lived their i've always wondered where did they drive wet from....
^ yeah, and now I want to know where that 'po' (from Chut Hui Po) came from too! -unsure Don't we have a chinese language specialist on PA?
I think "wet" comes from "we we wet wet", a term used to describe people who just hangs around the block, up to no good. I think "po" had been around for like 6-7 years... "Po" indicates hanging around, if it's used with a particular location, such as "po wongkok" it of course means "hangs around wongkok" but if it's just "po" without a location specified, it usually indicates a general sense of hanging around club or bar areas. Unlike "wet", "po" do not carry that much of a negative connotation, just hanging around from bar to bar or from club to club...
wow...i guess i've only heard it in the past few years so had assumed that it was another mutation of the commonly used chu hui wet phrase but you'll never be up on the slang less u lived in HK and was immersed in it 24hrs a day 7 days a week ^Woot we finally got some peoples that know where the heck some of these things are coming from and not just the woodworks on some teenager
I lost track on some of the super new terms (not to mention I don't use them, or dignifies them) I would INTENTIONALLY go dumb and ask for numerous clarification if someone just randomly throws some supernew slang into a conversation... Me = traditional, like the proper way to talk better than the baby-talkish slang :(
^ its definitly a lot easier if you talk in the traditional method plus you'd more people to understand and less of a "doi cul" between people
LOL, "doi cul"... It involves more than the latest slangs, something to do with changing social expectation I guess :(
there are too many to be addressing but chui meh is like blow what........ more like saying what you gonna do about it
Oh! Now I read your explanation I do remember having heard this 'poh' expression before, thanks Hiake!
but language is one of barriers between the generations...I get yelled at all the time by my parents for using slang that u can hear on a daily basis...but to them they feel its swearing
