that is a good idea, but I think they want PA to expand more, i believe we have 30k or so members and it prob doesnt warrant private invites only yet yeh thats actually a nice idea, having to get 10 post one week to d/l the next but again wont work, because too many spammers
How could you not join in the PA discussion?! Sure I don't have many posts but I do alot of reading here. Not to mention I have stings where I don't go on the computer for a long time -.-'. Downloads section is great but I think the discussion is better.
Post count is just an easy way out to determine contribution. Most of these "discussions" that most people post are nothing more than quick comments, which in reality turns the whole thread into a slow chat sessions. Quantity is somehow favored to boost what would be perceived as activity. Any restrictions to previously common areas on the forum will just promote more spam. Not like there already isn't a whole lot of. =/
I used to think that way. But after a while lingering around on another forum with very strict spamming rules, I have realized the forum was almost dead except for the very few limited number of regulars... It's almost like talking to myself over there, and I don't fancy that Here, the rules are more relaxed, and I feel there's a good mixture of serious and wacky discussions, so it enlightens the mood, and ensure there are continuous participation and interaction from members. If the rules are too strict, not many would continue posting for fear of violating the rules or just too lazy to form long sentences. (Some people do have a good point with just a few words...) And sometimes you get a good laugh over some silly/dirty jokes which are not possible if the rules are too strict. -^_^ I think that's what he's saying. <_<
I thought he meant the quantity in a post is the most important. But long posts can be bs too. While some short and direct posts can have more meaning. As long as the content is good stuff and useful, that is all it matters, doesn't matter whether the post is long or short.
To state the obvious, ever since pa was created, the theme has been and still is a laid back one. Like brain said, we have an even flow going...
Oh yup... I thought you meant quantity as in posts count, which was what he meant. So do I get a cookie for makin a good point?
Of course quality of post DOES matter, but only when there are POSTS to speak of... If one doesn't post, there's nothing to discuss about, because the non-existent post has neither quality NOR quantity. In my opinion, one of the issue right now, besides spammers and leechers, are lurkers who has the "well, there are someone who already said what I want to say, why bother" attitude. And seeing that we fellow PA members are not worms in those members' stomach, we cannot even differentiate between lurkers and leechers.
