RMVB becomes more and more popular, but only playable on PC for most poeple who don't have an XBox with media centre to be able to enjoy on TV.-noclue Yeah Yeah, some would also argue that you can convert between the files, but this is also time costly.-sleep
Let's face the fact that watching media files in front of the PC is not better than sitting on your sofa in front of your TV-ann. My DVD Player plays Divx/Xvid files and I would convert the RMVBs to Divx/Xvid and yeah man my whole family can enjoy.-coolio
The larger files of Divx in order to maintain quality is the down side but it's more playable, so why can't we have this version to download as well

What do you prefer, start arguing....-shoot

RMVB if you want to watch movies only on computer and DIVX if you convert it to DVD, but i prefer Divx anyways cause you can play that in Windows Media Player, its kind of a more universal format even though it is bigger in file size

Divx for me...I have a Divx player so I can watch the movies I download on our home TV. But I don't really mind RMVB either...the stuff I download that are in RMVB format don't need to be seen by the whole family. :)

But I think generally TVB series are family oriented -hugso it should be on the TV screen-hump... Conversions are the only way hmmmm..-oopsie

But Divx is the better choice-coolio until a DVD Real player (which will never happen) comes out.-nono

Thats because theres the matter of how much bandwidth the person uploading is willing to use. Also, even people on high speed connections don't upload relatively fast.

    ^yep broadband sucks for uploading

but yeh usual 40min US dramas are 350mb in size (ie prison break, lost, heroes, etc)

so thats an extra 150mb per day needed to upload rather than weekly like US dramas come out

plus you have to remember that some sites have upload download limits, and BT is slow

BT isn't slow, its just hard to get a torrent going.

i prefer avi files so most likely it is xvid/divx and it plays on my 32" & 56" hdtv :)

for tvb, rmvb is the main format for smaller size files. or i just go to get dvd rental at video store... but im low on points

Probably codec problem, you don't have the right codec for some .avi files to play it...maybe?

Haha, why don't you just get a bigger lcd monitor or connect your pc to your tv screen thru video in.
I hate converting stuff so I would just don't mind either but I prefer Divx for higher quality of audio and video.

They also have rmvb player out there in the market, I've seen them sell it in the local chinatown.

BT is slow and inconsistent compared to ddl, but its a good concept of download and share

    WinAVI works perfectly

i absolutely hate rmvb unless there's no other way. Seriously RMVB can only be played by real player and real player is terrible. At least with AVI my VLC can play it and so can almost any other player out there. I dont want to have real player just to play Real media files. If VLC could read RMVB i'd only have VLC installed.

Google real alternative, it allows you to play rmvb on WMP.
