hmmm...if u were born in the UK....and are returning so often to HK...why didn't u apply earlier..and waited until last year??-ohmy ...it is much easier to use HK ID card to enter/leave HK....
living for 7-years in HK isn't compulsory if (one of) ur parents were born in/continiously lived for 7 years HK. so i don't really get it..why your handling officer said ur chances were slim...

ooh and another point...there is no such thing as :'HK citizenship' its now: Chinese Citizenship...>>u could become a real chinese citizen...
    just like u are British/EU resident/citizen.

I started my application for citizenship when i was about 8 i think and went back about 3 or 4 times. I know my mother was born in HK and lived there for at least 20+ years, not sure about how long my dad lived there though. Just gave up in the end as the it seemed like so much hassle for such a slim chance of success.

    yaaa i know lol :D
but the names are the same lol...
i asked my parents lol... now i understand a bit:
parents told me that i was born before 1997 so i could get 2 id cards because :

before 1997 = hk was a part of UK and we had all UK id card -tongue2
to get the Germany ID , we had to give up the other, so we gave up the UK ID.
but after ´1997, HK became a part of china, so we got HK ID because my parents were born/raised in HK, and they only gave up the UK ID.
    sth like that ,^________________^
hope there are no mistakes lol... i dont know it exactly ...

hmmm.....strange story.....didn't they(immigration) approved a RTL status ?? as your mother was born in HK, this shouldn't be too much problem...RTL status has almost the same privileges as a 'ROA' citizen...with no hassle about the 7- year rule....
(not officially documented: U can only aquire the RTL status(no need to return to HK every 3 years)..if your application for ROA status fails...and ur parents were HK born Chinese...) U must first apply for it to see what happens.....

aha..okay..its quite complicated stuff with you @_@!!
but is now clear...sound perfectly -innocent ...-detect no strange things happing here -lol

so u have been in HK / UK first and now ur living in germany?? U move quite often from country to country...whats ur next destination??

Got the new one but had to wait weeks for mine... was a simple process of changing my kiddie HK Id to the new Adult chip Id card but it took bloody weeks!!!

No they don't! It took me exactly 10 business days to get mine (and it was during Christmas!)

It's WAY faster than the snail-speed Canadian things if you ask me... -whistle

it only takes 10 business days if u are a 'regular' case...

Otherwise It depends on the residence 'class'/'status' ur are....
often if ur from overseas (born overseas with no chinese nationality)...
ImmmD will check ur immigration records... (returning every 3 years!)
If u didn't fullfill this obligation....they will have u demoted from ROA stutus to RTL status... but this process takes a bit longer than the standard 10 business days...
