First of all, how big of a turbo are you going to upgrade to? What other engine modifications do you have? You can't just drop in a bigger turbo and expect everything to be fine and dandy. You'll need other modifications as well as a proper tune. You'll need to put in a lot of money into it.

playing with cars and modding is never cheap ><
especially if u get defected all the time too :p

and u'd def need a lot more research before doing some big tasks and upgrades

    ProjectD VIP yay :]

take your time and think about it... cause modding your car isnt cheap i should know i had my bmw m3 modded

why would you mod an M3? its pretty much perfect as it is.

    I'm assuming you've never seen a modified M3. :)

no, iv seen modified 3's before, the thing is im kinda a purist when it comes to factory tuned sports vehicles. It's my belief that BMW's 'M' division can do a better job at putting a vehicle together then some third party company ever could.

Unless your talking about cosmetic modifications, which are fine, because third party companies are the only people you can usually turn to for those. But in terms of the engine, i wouldn't touch an M-tuned engine with anything other then high quality oil and premium gas.

I've seen only a hand full of modified M3 cosmetic and engine wise. They are rare because parts and labor is expensive. But oh my god do they look good.

well if ur referring to getting body kits/styles for hte m3
i'd still pick the stock look

but internal parts wise, then u would need 3rd party to make custom stuff

personal view, if its just for on the road driving and non-race track
i wouldn't see much point of modding m3

i guess its always fun to haf a nice small car, all modded up to try ot match the real sport cars :p

^ That's true. There's no point in modding Ferraris but people still do it anyway. It's their money I guess.

guess i'd worry abt it wen i can afford to buy ferraris and mod it all :p

like someone mentioned, you cant just drop in a bigger turbo

depending on how much more power you will have to think about uprated internal parts to take the hike in power and retuning the ECU, etc

    = $$$$$$$$

and then you have to worry about fuel economy and reliability

u don't need a bigger turbo to make the WRX a beast... the biggest concern with the rex is the transmission... it just blows... if u want to add more power via bigger turbo, ur most likely gonna have to swap it out for the STi tranny first($6000)... secondly u want to remove the cats with new uppipe/midpipe/downpipe(do this first cuz the downpipe is second to the tranny in terms of pure shite) and get a new ecu/piggyback and do the usual i/h/e... that should put ur car into a very reasonable drving condition... about 50whp... by they u should already be satisfied...

Yeah, you cant just plop a huge turbo in your engine bay, you would end up with massive turbo lag and a practically undrivable vehicle. Better to keep your vehicle as balanced as possible when upgrading.

if you just want the biggest turbo without changing internals or the block, you can try the vf43.. that's the newest sti turbo, but is twinscroll.. so you need 2 wastegates.. if you're car is stock and just want a drop in turbo.. look for these

    - any vf series turbo
    - bigger injectors
    - wastegate
    - fuel rails
    - fuel pump
    - bigger top mount intercooler, or front mount intercooler
    - catless up pipe
    - catless/hiflo cat down pipe
    - aftermarket catback
    - stand alone computer

this stuff is NOT cheap.. yes i have a wrx too.. but i have the first generation
