wow, my 07 c-class is only at good and acceptable. the whole exhuast system amost came off during the front crash test.

having a big 4x4 does not make your car safe, for you or the person you hit... your more likely to crush smaller cars killing people, and more likely to roll over stick to the ncap ratings
the only safe aspect of a 4x4 is its weight, wide tires, and 4x4 capabilities.. also its high clearance off the ground.. even so, it comes back to haunt, cuz weight creates more inertia, which is dangerous, and any car can have 4x4 capability.. high clearance creates high point of gravity which means tip over easily.... i think in that case, a lancer or impreza all wheel is better..
^i agree with your points except having high clearance as a good point, as like you said it makes a high centre of gravity (so your more likely to roll) plus your more likely to ride over other smaller cars in a crash, making you more likely to roll again and to crush the occupants of the other car
