I won't let religion be an obstacle to not be someone I love. LOVE just comes naturally , when you have all the expectations, LOVE will just pass you by =)

    lol religion... doesn't matter.

to me, religion just provides me with a general set of morals for me to live my life.
i don't live or breathe it though.

So? Are you saying you are willing to convert for your partner?
Not everyone thinks like you do.
Some people are persistent that their partners convert to THEIR religions.
So what say you? That is the point of this thread anyway.

mmm... that's a toughie... i would ask my parents about it. but i wouldn't want to be with a religion fanatic either..

^brrr... like i said, religion just shows me how to be a good person etc etc, so personally i might not mind switching... but theres three problems: -batman

    1) there's that sense of... hey what if there really is someone up there.... and what if i piss them off lol.
    2) i've been a buddhist all my life so it's kinda hard to break the habit kinda. savvy?
    3) i dont wanna break my relationship with my parents just cos of switching religions. -whistle

kinda hard to explain lol. but i don't think i'll ever get into that situation anyway <_< cos i don't stay with control freak girls lol. or i would always talk them out of it somehow -lol

^Yeah but the girl could be a really nice girl, and not a control freak. She could just be close-minded in terms of her own religion... for example she's a really strict Christian and she might wants u to convert :p

    ^ oh man... lol! okay!!

ok i've decided. i won't convert, but I'll still embrace her religion, but I just won't worship it fanatically. IMO yes there is something bigger than all of us, but for me, that doesn't mean its god, buddha, mohummad, errr... ganesh.... zeus... whatever lol. i like learning about other religions and cultures but when it comes to dedicating myself wholly and purely to a divine being... i think that's taking it too far.

if i was a god (lol funny)... I would be happy enough that people are living life the way that my teachings presents so they can improve theirs and other peoples' ways of life.

but if we have babies... lol i wouldn't argue for our son to be a christian or whatever. as long as he turns out as a good kid =]

okay that's the biggest load of bullshit i've ever written lol

^ like... embrace their values.. but not worship their god kinda thing. lol does that even make sense?

lol nah not at all. it's fun to have a bit of intel. convo once in awhile... maybe im bein too aggro about it lol -lol

^I get what you mean... but there are still sadly, some people out there who's not willing to compromise anything in regards to their religions/beliefs and if you don't convert to their religion(s), even though your relationship is the happiest ever, he/she might just dump you for that.

well... if that's what it turns out to be, i guess there's no other way really... i rkn i'm pretty open minded about things but like... IMO it's okay to feel passionate about something, but completely wrong to be imposing ur values on other people. we all come from different backgrounds so we can't expect ppl to see life as we do.

i see ur point lol. i hope i don't cross paths with one =O

interesting question.. i wish i could have read through all the replies.

i am a Christian.. so to me, its not a versus thing.. its love = religion.

to me, God has to come before anything else in my life..

    life = walking with Jesus

so if the other person has different religious views to me, it will become a difficulty becoz it is a test of faith and also it could lead me away from Jesus, since they could potentially become my partner in life..

so to be frank, its not a matter of converting/forcing the other person into Christianity.. but i will introduce them to Jesus (same as meeting the parents i guess..) and let him learn and get to know Jesus, vice versa.

so if you fall in love with a scientologist, and you try to introduce her to jesus and she tries to introduce you to Tom Cruise, do you think love would overcome your differences? :stickpoke:
