psp got newer versions got version 3.03oe this means that unlike 1.5 you can play umd games as well as downloaded games pretty cool people who downgrade their psp try it out
^get on 3.40oe these days. cause some of the new games require the 3.40 firmware i think like tekken anyways dark-alex has retired and although you can now downgrade 3.50 there doesnt look like theres gonna be a 3.50oe :(
Can someone tell me if you can go back to the original firmware after downgrading? I'm just afraid that you will be stuck after downgrading.
it is possible to downgrade back to 1.5 from any OE custom firmware then back to your official one. but on certain motherboard versions i think this can only be done once, make sure you read the READMEs carefully yep you need any copy of lumines and the downgrading software recently discovered exploit means any firmware under/or 3.50 can be downgraded
one of the reasons why i bought a 3.40oe-a psp is because of a gps... i have it and all, but it blows like monkey balls... you can only load little maps one by one and its gonna freeze if you load too big of a map...
wait looks like i got it wrong slightly "If you have a TA082+ motherboard and you downgrade to 1.50, currently you will be unable to upgrade to 3.30+ Sony firmware. This is due to Sony blocking updates when the PSP has been modified to run 1.50. There will be an application released later which will allow users to revert the changes. If you are using a TA082 motherboard then I would suggest just using 1.50 or OE until an application is released."
So if I understand correctly, the OE version is the "tweaked" version which have all the functionality + you can play homebrew and images of games. Right. And you can go back from OE version to original, right? Can you tell me what the difference is when I install HEN only?
OE firmware allow you to play homebrew and ISO images of the games, yes. depending on how new your motherboard is you can downgrade from OE back to 1.5, but on certain motherboards, no higher than official 3.30. But do your research before committing, cause you dont want to brick your psp Personally when you have OE firmware, its exactly the same as official FW but with added functionality, so there would be no reason to downgrade back to official FW
only if its upgrading to OE firmware, but as darkalex quit there wont be so called OE firmware past 3.40oe but there are other coders out there with their own versions of custom firmware if you want to upgrade to official, i believe you would have to downgrade back to 1.5 then upgrade, but dont quote me on that... check out psp-hacks.com, register and fire your questions there, they will be able to help you out properly the new psp, still runs the same hardware as the old one (, However its apparently running a newfirmware version called 3.60 which hasnt been hacked yet. not to say it cant be hacked, we dont know yet so far any psp with firmware 3.50 or under can be downgraded and hacked
