Just wondering if you ever give money to charities? volunteer for non-profit organizations? sponsor a child? participate in fund raisers, not for the materialistic goods you might receive out of it? stop and greet a homeless person instead of turning your face away and walking off more quickly? I was wondering this when I learned that the Bill and Melinda Gates foundation has given away more than 13 Billion USD to charities, that equals to more than 20% of his net worth. I actually rather admire him unlike all those rich children out there, whose parent's money can help lead them and their children through the rest of their lives, so in the end when they need to make their own, they are stuck not knowing how to do anything Although Bill Gates has 55 Billion dollars, when he and his wife dies, each of their children will only get 10Mill each, and the rest goes to charities I think that is amazing, of course give to your children because you love them, but at the same time, make sure they know how to fend for themselves. (I know lots of you are saying that 10Mil is way to much, but think they aren't getting 27.5 Bill each)
are you sure the 13billion are from Bill and Melinda Gates? It may be from the Foundation ... which could be that it's only 6.5mil. As far as I know, Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation tend to just match whatever that was donated by others.
I do community service helping adults and children's with disabilities. Sometimes, I give a few dollars to homeless person on the streets, but not anymore because I haven't bumped into any in a while and sometimes they ask for more than I give/swear at me.

whao...thats a lot of money...i give so money sometimes...to something called adopt a club...since im a christian, and i go to his club, their tryin to make the club advailable for every1 in every country, sowe could donate money...and ya..
i usually donate to oxfam when i have a bit of money in my hand if i know i have lots of money left over from my student loan, i dont hesitate to donate a set amount
lol. i think people need to donate to me... haven't really seen any homeless people here in FL that don't look like they take all the money to buy beer... as for child sponsors...i've seen the ones where they tell you to put a quarter in the little spot to support the child...but i always feel like they're going to take the money out for themselves ><"
volunteered to help at this place for the homeless, but it was kind of for the community service requirements so i wouldn't consider myself to be generous lols
I give money and do those marathons to raise money. I mostly support diabetes because my close friend has diabetes.
I once volunteered to help at a marathon to pass out water and stuff like that, we use a water hose to fill a trash bag placed in a trashcan and we use that water and pour it into cups and then pass it to the runners, feel sorry for the runners who have to donate and run, that is some nasty water.
I do it whenever i can and, the only way i won't help out is when i'm really busy or something. But i remember when i was small, i was at this subway. i saw this homeless person and, was about to give him the money i have but, my mom stopped me and, started yelling at for doing that. I was like " what the heck did i do wrong?"
I tend not to give money to the people on the subway and street begging because they'll end up buying alcohol with the money.
I only give when I'm certain the money collector can be trusted (check ID, their appearence, website) but since the charitable organisations hardly collect money in the oldskool way but instead asking people to fill in a form and give them your bank accountnumber I don't do that anymore. (they often will pass your info to other organisations who in turn send you beg letters) Or I certified buy things I know part of the profit will be donated. And I once voluntered handing sandwiches out to the homeless junkies....but that was because we've made to many sandwiches for our TV project and throwing them away was a waste haha. -sweat Oh and I don't give money to beggars! A recent report showed that beggars in Amsterdam can make 2000 till 3000 Euros a month! -shock That's even more than the average loan! And I remembered I once saw a beggar who's clothes were pretty normal/clean and was wearing a pair of brand new Puma sport shoes! WTF, and he claims to be a poor homeless beggar?
I guess he rather a nice Puma shoes instead of a roof on top of his head. 2000-3000 Euro a month is more than a lot of jobs out there here in US, plus he don't have to pay rent.
