Miss Hong Kong 2007 Results Criticized as Worst in 20 Years Caption: Miss Hong Kong 2007 winner, Kayi Cheung was a blackhorse candidate. First Runner Up, Grace Wong, and Second Runner Up, Loretta Chow congratulate Kayi for winning the crown. The results for Miss Hong Kong 2007 were unveiled on Saturday night, with #3 Kayi Cheung winning the crown as a blackhorse candidate. Shockingly, there were loud booing from the audience as the winner was announced. Netizens even criticized that Kayi Cheung was the worst Miss Hong winner from the last 20 years! According to an online poll conducted by Netease, 89% (7632 votes) of survey participants agreed that Kayi Cheung was the worst Miss Hong Kong! After winning the crown, Kayi attended the post celebration event and press conference. Afterwards, she went to a relative's home to continue celebrating with her family. Kayi's mother prepared fried rice and rice-bean congee for her beloved daughter. Returning home, Kayi's neighbors congratulated her and said, "We also have a Miss Hong Kong from the housing projects!" Since entering the Miss Hong Kong 2007 competition, Kayi had low press coverage and her winning the crowd caused much disappointment. Netizens criticized that she was not beautiful enough. One netizen said, "This is a disgrace to Hong Kong! She is considered Miss Hong material?" Another netizen said, "It's been a long time since there was a pretty Miss Hong Kong." Hosting the Miss Kong pageant for several years, MC Eric Tsang Chi Wai also expressed surprise over the final results. "Perhaps Kayi made a good impression when she met the judges. I thought #6 Anita Wong had a good chance to win due to her outstanding performance. Due to her baby fat, #2 Lily Ho lost out during the swimsuit competition. She also lacked experience in life." Fellow MC, Nat Chan Bak Cheung also agreed with Eric's assessment. In reaction to the harsh public reaction, Kayi said, "People have a different perspective on beauty. There will always be supporters versus dissenters towards various participants in a beauty pageant. The winner is selected by the judges. It is most important that I am the judges' winner." (Some people criticize that you are from the housing projects?) "I don't mind as long as it is comfortable to live in." First Runner-Up, Grace Wong entered the "Miss Chinese American Pageant" and also won the First Runner-Up title. Regarding her inability to win the crown, Grace said, "I'm not disappointed! I am very happy the judges gave me 3 awards!" They should just let last year's winner reign another year to make up for such a lackluster field of contestents this time around. -shock But on another note, Kate Tsui...looking good.
Even before the competition began a lot of people already criticized all the contestant for being very lackluster.
Katy Tsui looks flattering than all the contestants. Hey guys... Did you notice how the judges rate the contestant with their IQ ? Some stupid contestants get high marks.
if only she wasn't so skinny, had a slightly rounder face then those "bug eyes" might actually turn cute ^_^ but yea.... the 1st place winner does look sorta... "off", something just isn't right
Poor her, I think if I was in her position, having to hear loud booing from the audience as soon as the winner was announced. I'll cry right on the stage.
Or perhaps she is not photogenic but look charming and beautiful in real. Anyway whatever it is, I'm happy for her. -clapclap
I'm more pissed off at the judges for choosing that girl! The other two girls beside her doesn't get any better either!
