I'm very interested in learning chinese idioms. I can't get over how you can express so much in so little words. From wise witty saying, to jokes... If you have any, please type them out in chinese, and include the story/explanation (in english first...and cantonese if you want) along with it. I would love to learn more. Thank you!
i have one 'hek bat dou dik pou tou si suen dik' (unable to eat the grapes and say it's sour) = sour grapes 'jeh jo loong yi chan dui yi' (borrow deaf chan's ears)-pretending to be deaf 'ji juk siong lok'- be satisfied with everything and you will be happier '
Thanks! That's awesome.-bigclap I'm having a bit of trouble trying to find the characters in chinese (perhaps it's also due to the fact that i've never learned how to read/write cantonese out of pronounciation...), do you know the characters? Or do you know where/how i could translate them into chinese? Thanks again!
it's difficult to translate to chinese characters because a spelling (pinyin) can represents a lot of characters...you could get some chinese idioms from below...but first you have to know the intonation of the 4 basic pinyin pronunciation.. http://www.hisnibs.com/chinese_idioms.htm http://english.china.com/livelife/chineseidioms/
here's more from wikiquote http://en.wikiquote.org/wiki/Chinese_proverbs http://qi-journal.com/culture.asp?-token.SearchID=Idioms
