I've liked cars since I was a little kid. I had a box of hot wheels that was too heavy for me to move back then. I was always asking my dad questions about cars long before I knew how to drive. The internet and having other car enthusiast friends are where I've learned a lot more. Actually working on cars has proven to be very beneficial as well. A car in the 30k range and a car in the 15k range is still a car. They have many parts in common and it's basically the amenities and build that differ between cars these days. So it doesn't matter so much how expensive the car is if you're seriously interested in talking shop. If you have specific questions, ask here and I'm sure you'll get plenty of answers.

go look for a car forum and start asking your questions there... you'll learn a lot =) all i need to know is what kind of car i drive, how to drive, how to put gas in it, how good i look in them =P and how girls look in them... hahaha cars are interesting, and if i had time i can probably learn quite a few things about cars, but at the moment, i'm pretty busy with school, work and everything.
choose the car u know u want to own and can realistically achieve... then join that community and learn what u can about that car... when u know a lot about ur own car, it'll be easy to pick up on the differences of other cars and the rest will just come to you... most importantly... never look down on any car... and keep an open mind... people will tell you x car is better than y car... but u'll never know what u'll like till ur driving it...
i would say that you should pick a car company that you like their cars from and start from their... like if you like the styling for BMW, Porsche, Mercedes, etc...you should visit their website and just browse around at the different type of cars. Reading magazines like car & driver and road & track will definitely help you to build up the knowledge that you want about cars. Also visit fanbased websites for the certain type of cars that you like... bmw's biggest forum is the e46fanatics.com Mercedes biggest forums is the mbworld.com you can also post questions here on this forum and get answers from members...i'm sure we have a wealth of knowledge and can point you in the write direction
