it is incredibly random, if ur parents r tall, then ur chances of being tall are the same as someone with parents who are short, yao ming for example
nothing proven I had friends who don't play any sports and they are taller than I am. I am 5'8" and I am very active. So nothing proven. I agree with drinking milk and rest enough.

orrrrrr get that surgery in china, where they snap your legs, insert metal roads and stretch ya out its gonna hurt like hell for a long time, but your guaranteed tallness at the end
I saw an ad like that in my mom's chinese magazines.. and then one time there was an article about some girl suing them cause she didn't grow and she looked like she was in a lotta pain ><
hmmm no chance mate haha i play loads of sport and i am still as short as ever... hmm just start crying when you play basketball and everyone is taller than you >.< thats when you dont bother with layups and just go for long range shots =P
i believe it's mostly genetics that works (even if ur way shorter then ur parents or the opposite, it could be that u've got the genes of ur grandparents or something), but eating healthy foods and doing jumping sports could help too.
Besides fantasy sports (LOL FANTASY SPORTS) try sports that make you jump like volleyball and basketball b/c I know some friends who grew like 2 inches over the summer playing it everyday. FYI you have to jump alot ALOTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTt stretch out your back too.
basketball, jump rope, swimming are the best activities. you also have to eat right and sleep before 11pm.
