Hi, I'm having problems at the moment. I have Nero 7 vision burner, but how do I fit a .avi file into a 700MB CD? I tried to burn it but it says I'm out of space. How do I reduce the size? I've already converted the .avi into SVCD format so why doesnt it fit? Any help thanks.

    I have Nero 7 too.

I think its because when you put it in to the discs, the file needs to be convert into VCD format (.DAT) so when it does, it need more than 700MB space...

In my opinion, you may have to reduce the quality of that avi file or just convert it into other video format like RMVB or RM then fm there on, burn it bk into your 700MB cd.

Otherwides, put it in a dvd-R instead...

I was asking about the size of the file, not the cd. Please read. Like THF20, convert it to rmvb or reduce the quality.

first thing is why are you trying to fit a 700MB file onto a CD-R and how big is the avi file

since you mentioned you converted it to SVCD im assuming to want to watch it on your dvd player or something ....

if that then i suggest you split the avi file into 1/2 (using an app like virtualdub for example, its free) and then put it ontpo 2 CDs using Nero (like the format in retail VCD's). An another way is to make a KVCD so that you can fit it all on one CD

    http://www.kvcd.net/guides/kguide/kvcdguide.htm

or simply just use a DVD, less hassle :p

if you doing it for backup purposes then compressing it should reduce the size so that it can fit on 1 CD if this doesn't work then you have to convert it to a different format like rmvb which was mentioned by thf20

WINAVI has a feature that lets you split the file.

vcd or jz data copy ?

it depends whether u wan to burn as a vcd or data .... find out the file info such as the aspect ratio and bit rate ... and jz convert it to lower bit rate would work ... even if u lower the aspect ratio, i believe that the result would not deter when u view as full screen ..
