theres a big button in winAVI which says DVD

click it, select the file you want to convert, choose the output directory, then go advance, choose the dvd disk size, audio quality, aspect ratio, etc etc

then convert, once converted, use nero to burn the dvd video files to a dvd

What settings do you recommend? When converted the picture is quite poor

if your talking about winAVI (i use 8.0)

these are the settings i use, you can fit bout 5, 40min TVB rmvb eps onto one 4.7gb DVD disk and it will retain the quality of the original rmvb file. So definitely watchable on a TV

I just tried WinAvi the other day, I have to say it's a pretty good program. It converts many type of files including rmvb which is definitely a plus. Dim8sum, my settings are like yours except for encode mode, I use "by quality" and my disc capacity is set to 4300, I suggest you to not max out your dvd capacity or you could run into problems when your burning the disk. -bigsmile

^ lol its ok, i use 4.7gb DVD disks not 4.3s so im ok, ive burnt hundreds of dvds without problems, cause if a file wont fit on my dvd, nero will tell me anyways

i set by speed cause, for like 7.6 there really was no noticeable difference in quality. Plus the rmvbs arent great to begin with, so setting to speed will not produce any noticeable quality issues compared to quality setting

sometimes the program is crappy when it comes to high bitrate movies or videos

but then again i was using a Sepron 3200+ and multitasking @ the same time

    Disk capacity
Bear in mind that the capacity of a writable DVD disc is expressed in decimal (base 10) rather than binary (base 2) notation.
    So a 4.7 GB disc stores 4.7 billion bytes [4:700,000,000 bytes / 1000 = 4,700,000 KB / 1000 = 4,700 MB / 1000 = 4.7 GB] .
    In binary notation (as is typical with CD-R, CD-RW and most operating systems) the same disc has a capacity of roughly 4.38 GB [4:700,000,000 bytes ÷ 1024 = 4,589,844 KB ÷ 1024 = 4,482.27 MB ÷ 1024 = 4.38 GB] .
So it is a wise idea as suggested by AsianPride to set it to 4300GB before running to problem.

lol its ok.... i know what im doing lol

WinAVIs disk capacity works the way written on the disk... if i put 4700mb as the disk size it will create a file under that of the max file size of a 4.7gb

plus nero will always tell you if you file is oversized and wont fit

otherwise id have hundreds of useless dvds lying about, which i do not ;)

lol that is exactly why it sucks

my athlon 3200+ if encoding cannot do anything else, because if it could it would take 100% cpu load. Encode on dual cores i recommend
