i think having chinese pride isnt necessarily being chinese and being proud of that fact. to have chinese pride is to think that if you had the choice, you'd be proud to be chinese as opposed to another race.

i admit, i wasnt terribly proud to be chinese as a child (hey white people had all the video games and japanese had all the cartoons) but as i've matured i realized just how deep and unique the chinese culture is. and i am proud of what ive grown up as.

besides, there's nothing like pointing out to other asians that their culture was once china's bitch :p

sadly, many of my friends don't feel that way. one does nothing but ridicule my listening of chinese music and says i should stop listening to chink crap. :( suitably, her sister married a white man and she's on her way towards one too

So what? If the sister is happy with her marriage, why not?

    ^huh?

if im guessing correctly, the problem isnt that she and/or her sister is with a white guy. its cause they have never really considered another option. they are against anything that whiffs of asian (including any interest in asian guys). she has even said to my face once "i dont know why anyone would want to go out with an asian guy..... (5 second pause) no offense". so while i hope they are happy with their relationships, its sad to see my friend constantly blasting her cultural heritage

    Yes, no questions asked.
    1) HIghest population
    2) Strong military
    3) Long History
    4) A super power
    5) Have our own car industry
    6) Hell of a threat to America
    7) "Made in China" can be seen almost everywhere

People can talk bad about Chinese people all they want, because we let them.

There will always be opposition within a country. Especially with such a high population

Hell the fact that this poll has over 90% who are proud is a miracle.

everybody is proud of being a member of their own originality. This is pretty common. Being Chinese is good esp if you are bilingual.

Yes, I am proud of being Chinese. I do enjoy watching Korean dramas and like the actors a lot, but I am satisfied with my own culture as well. My other friends want a Korean boyfriend though LOL

Same here! I've had that happen before, where at my local Chinese supermarket, they purposely scratched out the expiry dates on some tofu products, and then tried to sell it. How shady............
