Courtesy of Engadget: Who could've seen this one coming? Apple surprised no one this morning with brand new iMacs. Built from aluminum and glass, the new all-in-one desktops feature a complete redesign and will come in two sizes: 20-inch and 24-inch. There's the usual compliment of ports like USB 2.0, Firewire 400 / 800, a slot loading SuperDrive, iSight camera and so forth. The new look features a glossy display to match the majority of Apple's consumer lineup, and new keyboards are indeed coming along for the ride -- in an extended wired version as well as a mini wire free model, running the Bluetooth 2.0 spec. Under the hood Apple has up to a 2.4GHz Core 2 Extreme processor, ATI Radeon HD 2600 Pro graphics, up to 1TB of storage, 802.11n and Bluetooth 2.0, with 8x SuperDrives and 1GB of RAM standard across the board. Prices start at $1,199 for the 20-inch, $1,499 for a processor and graphics bump, and $1,799 for the 24-incher. The full rundown of Apple's stock models is after the break. * $1,199 * 20-inch, 1680 x 1050 LCD * 2.0 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo * 1GB RAM * 250GB SATA * 8x SuperDrive * ATI Radeon HD 2400 XT * $1,499 * 20-inch, 1680 x 1050 LCD * 2.4 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo * 1GB RAM * 320GB SATA * 8x SuperDrive * ATI Radeon HD 2600 Pro * $1,799 * 24-inch, 1900 x 1200 LCD * 2.4 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo * 1GB RAM * 320GB SATA * 8x SuperDrive * ATI Radeon HD 2600 Pro Source:http://www.engadget.com/2007/08/07/apples-new-imac/ Knoc
I wouldn't run to buy the new iMac. I would wait until the Leopard comes out because you know they will have a upgraded version of it with a faster processor and etc when Leopard comes out.
1tb isnt scary... hard drives are going much cheaper once the memory keeps getting higher 750gb hard drive is like only $180 USD now... much cheaper than usual lol
the specs for these are amazing.. radeon 2600 XT PRo cards.. for only 1800 dollars.. honestly, i doubt there are any better deals out there
-inlove just looking at it makes me want one already....forget the specs and stuff......just looky at it.......^^
true, only 1gb of ram sucks lol, this is better for non-gamers, for gamers just install your own graphics card: http://reviews.cnet.com/desktops/hp-pavilion-media-center/4505-3118_7-32472845.html?tag=prod.txt.1 for only like $1150, you get 640gb harddrive, 3gb ram and a quad-core processor (Intel's Core 2 Quad Q6600 CPU)
that's true lol, but gotta make sacrifices, spec vs. style vs. pricing, depends on ones preference lol, i want it all but that's hard to get lols.
macs = minority their stupid advertisments always make it seem like they are the best but in fact its the other way around. Good way to trick noobs joining from the ipod band wagon. For the price of a mac u can get a computer x10 better in pc terms. All its has is looks but no compatibility and they are mostly over priced! lets say u have 2 identical systems $600 for the pc but if u were stupid enough to get a mac that'll be $1500
Well they usually give you everything you need when you buy a Mac. Unlike PC's when you have to buy every single program. Plus if you want to run the Mac OS you need to get a mac. You can try to run it on a PC, but it will be hella slow. Mac is a good home computer.
