hmm well its time for Lexus dealership story part 2:

so! i finally had a day off today, its been like 3 weeks since my last one and i dont know when il have another one, so i decided it was probably my only chance to get down to the dealership again and order my vehicle. I brought my mom, cuz she is my financial backer, seeing as i can only afford roughly 55% of this car, and we went for a test drive.

Unfortunately they didnt have a IS250 RWD, so i tested out the AWD version and i pretty much love it. I rarely drive automatics and i forgot how simple it was. The lazy side of me was saying 'buy this, no clutch, no slushbox, u can just sit back, drive with one foot and enjoy the scenery and beautiful interior.' but then the hardcore 19 year old driver part of me replied 'oh, you pussy, automatics are for women and old people, driving stick is the only way to go and you know it.... bitch'

So after a quick 10 minute test run, in which me and my mom exclaimed about the smooth, buttery heated leather that was slowly roasting our buns; and was deadened by the fact that i saw nearly 4 police cars in the space of only a few minutes, I reluctantly returned to the dealer parking lot.

We then sat down with a poker faced dealer who looked like he hadn't smiled for most of his adult life, and began talking price. It was at this point that shit stalled. The dealership had yet to receive pricing for the 2008 lineup and i was mostly taking shots in the dark judging by the 2007 prices. Then my mom dropped da bomb, and told me that i should probably get the leather package, to hold the resale value, cuz it was obvious that no one wants a lexus with cloth seats, and it probably didnt make any sense in the long run to get cloth.

At this point all the financials that i was working out in my head were moot, cuz i knew that the 2008 model was eliminating the moon roof/leather package and replacing it with just leather, and i had no idea what the total price would be now. We decided it would probably be a good idea just to come back in about 2 weeks when the '08 pricing was finalized and get everything done then.

So... I have yet to actually order my vehicle and am waiting once again. There is also the problem that my mom is going to be leaving on a cruise for all of september and I might have to work this entire thing out by myself. Yarr, its kinda daunting, but il handle it... handle it like a musician baby (get it.. handle and Handel? ho ho ho ho)

    you know its the truth!

well waiting is gonna be hard, but theres not much you can do. Life is a bitch sometimes -lol

Even if i do order it in 2 weeks, i still need to wait 3-4 months to get it from the factory.... i wont be getting this car till around christmas atleast... it sucks, but it also allows me to work alot more and make another 4-5 thousand dollars

automatics aren't for pussies.... i drive a auto. been driving a stick for like 7 years when i was 16.
right now i'm kinda deciding on trading my 07 c230 for the new 08 c300. guy at the dealer offered me to pay off what i owe on my car rite now, no money down, and a monthly payment of like 800 dollars for the c300. got me thinking for like 2 days now.
but just the thought of losing about 16 grand kills my plans. they only offer me 24 grand for the trade in value. 16 grand.... its like losing 3 grand a month ever since i bought my car.
is the only thing u described the only difference with the 08 IS???
i was car shopping with my girl the other day and she wants an audi. was there and seen a 08 a4. the only difference is that it comes standard with the s-line package.

lol you've got nothing to complain about dude, u can get such good deals in the states for cars... i just got off the phone with a lexus dealer in minneapolis regarding importing a new vehicle to canada, but it looks like canadian import laws forbid anything except used vehicles that have been registered in the US.. fuken pisses me off, cuz i could have saved nearly 10 thousand dollars...

r u thinking of paying it off whole or financing it?

  13. fearless_fx

i will be paying 24 grand myself, my mom will be covering the additional 20 G and i will probably pay her back over a period of 16 months. i really dont care about money, i have no use for it, all i want is this car lol

hey fearless, what kind of rims r those on that c-class u posted???
i want my car to look something like that. minus the lip.
if u want u can fly out here to cali and give me the money and i can help u buy the car and then after a day or two, sign over the pink slip to u so then it makes the car used.

Those rims look like BBS something-or-others... not sure exactly what model.. i love the rear set though, deep dish rims make me harder then diamond

and i have an uncle in Socal who would be more than willing to do the same thing ur talking about.. but california is a loooong way away from where i live.. it would be a several day drive to get the car back, and shipping a vehicle on a semi is also quite expensive, and they wouldnt deliver it to my city, they would probably only deliver to a big city like Calgary, and id have to go pick it up from there...

its damned 'ma fan', but im probably just gonna suck it up, spend the extra 9-10 grand and love it nonetheless.
i will likely own this car for atleast the next 10 years of my life, so it will pay itself off over time. its not even really the extra money that bugs me though, its just that the US dealers toss in all the options like its nothing... i wont be getting Sat NAV or all the premium goods; then again, u cant miss what u never had, eh.

Still.. my dealership is only giving me 650 dollars off msrp and i dont think its enough, next time they call im going to demand atleast 1 thousand, plus window tint, and all weather mats. If they dont give it to me, i think il probably look out of province... i kinda feel like i am getting a bit ripped off at the moment.

so 44 grand for a base model 250???
i was messing around at work today and was pricing a IS on the lexus website.
around 38 grand i think it was for a 250 rwd 6 speed manual with blue paint, black leather interior, bi-xeon hids, 18 in rims, trunk spoiler, add on kit, and i think thats it.

yeah, as i said, u guys get an insanely better deal in the states...

my friends have actually kinda convinced me im getting gipped on this too, and they feel pretty strongly about it.

iv decided that since i havent bought the car yet, to go test drive some other vehicles.

the main rival to the IS that im looking at is the TSX.

for 40G its loaded with Navi, leather, moonroof, and all the premium features... also it would keep me in the Acura family . Its definitely the better deal... im basically in love with the way the IS looks, but i think that it might not be worth it overall... i might feel as if i got a raw deal for a while afterwards, i dunno.

The TSX is also fairly modifiable, whereas the IS would pretty much just be stuck the way it is for a while.

with the mugen bodykit, id be extremely happy with this car i think (unfortunately the mugen kit is 4 grand lol)

meh we'll see, this car buying business is gonna give me an ulcer hahahaha

    that tsx looks nice.
true there isn't much to modify on the IS yet but if u get one and start modifing it as stuff comes out for it, u'll be the only one with a fixed up IS. do u want to be with the group or be special? i see a lot of IS and TSX here in cali but none r fixed up.
i got the c230 cause i liked the way it looked and hey, its a merc. i didn't see much on the streets also. now i see a bunch on c230's around.
i'm gonna start to modify the apperance a little. rims later on down the line prob next year after i get back from HK. i'm gonna get the CLK style front grill and flat hood emblem for my car soon. i haven't seen any with that yet.
i remember someone telling me b4, when buying a new car, go with ur first choice. you'll prob end up regeting it later on.

  19. ^ your friend is right.. sooner or later, you will have to get the first choice..

my dad was looking for a sport sedan car, and his choices were cadi cts, g35 sedan, then a saab 9-3... he then got the cts, which i think was a great choice...

we are the only asian family in my area driving a white cts lol kinda unique if you ask me haha
