hey, in about September im starting my final year at College and would be applying to go to a Uni in London next year. I was thinking of taking a Gap year, for which i can use to do an internship course from HSBC: http://www.hsbc.co.uk/1/2/graduatec...ssionid=0000e9Yd_-x2_za4iufIFiA_iIB:11j56r6g2 for like 6 months, then get 3 months free time before i do go back to Uni... And also there has been a suggestion of me, to do a summer banking course which would last for up to 10 weeks in the summer holiday of next year- all the trainin etc would be paid for by the company you will work in, with a salary worth up to £400 a week ($800) which is very tempting ...hehe So any suggestions..? Shall i do both - i.e. the summer course and the 6 month Gap year one, or shall i just take the summer course then go to Uni afterwards...? Heard from some ppl, that some don't go back to Uni after takin Gap year to work, but ill be prepared, i think....
^its really up to you, but any work experience is worth it (increases job prospects so much and looks well good on a CV, especially since its in context too) So many people I lived with 1st year had gap years. Most just wanted a year out to work and make money. lol i lived with people who were 20-23 (and were freshers) who had many gap years and then finally went uni haha i personally didnt take gap year, cause i get a placement year in my course and I wanted to start uni straight away
hey...andrew..my 'see hing' told me if it mite be harder to get bk to studying after taking a gap year tho...=S cos even tho ur doing the internship, ur still free from '6th form'....and u mite not wana go bk... but i dont know....what matters is what u wana do...u could try it out i suppose and see how it feels like init...but i'm not good at answering these type of questions lol...still too inexperienced.....
^ well that kinda depends on the persons will to study, if they go back to school after gap year and study hard as hell, they would still probably make it... @OP yea doing internship can help you get recognition from the companies when you graduate and it can be better for your resume... i recommend the summer job...
thanks...hmmm guess it does depend on the person's will...i feel kinda dumb and out of place now tho..lol... minh: anyways u should probaly do that summer thing, u said how u get paid aswel right? lol um...yeh...but dont listen to me..
btw ive managed to tempt phuc n some others 2 join in, phuc is lookin quite optimistic on doin this 2 honestly...i lookin very optimistic, after doin that BTEC bankin course in the European College of Business and Management for 2 weeks, hehe...n the company who are responsible for runnin the courses, are the same ones who are responsible for the summer holiday job 2, after finishin college...
yea its 18. But dang,ya need like all B's in Maths , Eng GCSE to do it. ><" But there should be a way around
hmmm...i'm certain i passed maths...after redoing it again n again thanks to ms Aslam...lol..but not to sure about english tho....>.<
do the internship, it might motivate you to hurry up and graduate. my friend did a 6 month internship for some company and they paid him VERY WELL, so well that he wouldn't tell me and he guarantees that he makes more than my internship which I'm not sure is true since I make an amount I'm happy with. =)
so guess he took a Gap year ryt..? did he manage to go bk 2 Uni n study afterwards, or did he not go bk...? The hardest thing i think, if i do take it, is the fact how i would manage to work and think about goin bk to Uni at the same time...i.e. whether work would take me over, rather than study... One more question...was ur friend offered a job then afterwards...? And if he finished Uni, did he go back to work in that place..?
Do the internship, with a lot of companies they tend to hired people that was already in their systems. Here in the US, an internship almost guarantee a full time job when you graduate.
