  7. Three men walk into a restaurant and have a meal, the waiter charges them £30. They pay £10 each.
The waiters manager then tells him that he has over charged the three men by £5 and gives him five £1 coins to give back to the men.
The waiter being annoyed at this decides to keep £2 for himself and gives the three men £1 each back. they have now paid £9 each, three nines make £27, the waiter has £2.

    £1 has gone missing!

i've heard this from my friend before but I ain't telling the answer lol!...^^ it's easy to remember the greater sign > one side diverges and the other converges. the side that diverges or open it's mouth wide has bigger values...simple!

They paid $25, waiter keeps $2 then $3 is given back to each on of them.

    Initial $25
    Waiter $2
    Guy A $1
    Guy B $1
    Guy C $1
    Therefore $30 total

if u go the opposite way it doesn't work... because it makes it so that they're not paying the same amount each.. which they should be...

  16. Yah its easy to work out with pen and paper laid out the way uraha did it but figuring it mentally makes it a nice trick.

it's just meant to confuse us if we think it from another angle...both views are logically correct.. each paying $9..but think again, when we multiply $9 with 3 which is $27, minus the bill which is $25, the extra $2 is actually the money pocketed by the waiter...if each guy surrender $1 each that has been refunded, the total is still $30
