When it gets serious, I don't want them to know him all that well because if something happens, they'll ask me what happened and get in my business when it wasn't serious in the first place

I didn't tell my parent until I went out with my GF for 4 years, but of course I was 14 when I first started to date her.

I didn't tell my parents, they can figure it out on their own if they see me hanging out with the guy often hehe.
But I guess when I get engaged, I have to tell.

i would like to tell them when it gets serious. or at least i know that i'll stay with him for a while, because i don't want one of those really short relationships and then my parents will be wondering why we broke up after such a short time

-lol i can just imagine their faces when you bring her home for the first time and tell them you're getting married. like, where did she come from?

I usually don't tell them, if i invite my girl over and if they ask i'll tell them, if not then i'll just let them assume whatever. I guess i'm not the type to really talk to my parents about my relationships. Though my mum has told me that i should only date girls when i have a stable income so yeah, guess she knows that girls need high maintenance lolz

thats so intresting, most of the chinese/asian parents are like...you wont get into a relationship until you re in college or even graduated from college >.< but then if you bring them someone home, or they meet him/her, they take it pretty well...i wouldnt really tell them like...yeah i'm dating that guy...i just let them figure it out lol but if its really serious i'd tell them after a few months...if they didnt figure it out by then -lol
