i just opened up an account in june when i went to hk on cathay.....funny story when i returned from hk.....i was at the airport checking-in my luggage and they said that the plane was fully booked and so if i didn't mind they would put me through the next flight which was the next day....for doing that they offered me $1500hkd cash and a card which entitled me to a free one sector class upgrade for the next time.....this is the first time it has ever happened to me because i usually fly air canada and not cathay but has anyone else experienced this before

thats like 150 bucks right? pretty reasonable.. its kinda like they are paying for u to stay in a mid level hotel

it's about 200 dollars....some other passenger got to stay at the hotel next to the airport instead of the cash

Only signed up for this since last year so I don't have much yet although I've flown quite a lot with Cathay Pacific, JAL and other partner airlines in this program in the past 2/3 years. I would say keep saving the miles till you have enough for a free returnticket to HK. (I'm saving for either HK or Japan)
