Pigs were force-fed sand and metal for the contest




Animal rights groups have expressed outrage at the force-feeding and sacrifice of the world's heaviest pig in Taiwan.

The obese pig was sacrificed as part of Taiwan's annual Pig of God contest.

Animal activists filmed the pig's slaughter, and the parading of its body, for its online video campaign.

The pig weighed more than 908kg (143 stone) after being force-fed sand and metal. It was unable to stand on its own feet and took 20 men to carry.

After its slaughter on Saturday, in Hsin Chu, it was painted and paraded through the streets. The heaviest pig contest is part of the annual Pig of God festival, and hundreds of pigs are force-fed as farmers seek to increase their weight.

Leah Garces, WSPA International Programmes Director, called the contest "a grotesque freak show that ends in the public killing of animals".

The competition is illegal in Taiwan, but activists say that authorities in Hsin Chu have been reluctant to enforce the ban, fearing a backlash from religious groups.

That's so crude and twisted! Abusing an animal for a stupid contest! Especially it's been held in the light of that annual Pig of God festival one would think they will respect the pigs even more but no.

In the place I live my will is law and if I want to force sand and metal in all your holes you won't mind if I keep Human Rights/Animal Rights out of my place eh?

 

damn this is really fucked up, sand and metal, but pigs are born to suffer for the human's survival so guess there is always something bad done to the pigs, we just don't know to the extent of the cruelty done to the pigs until it is being publicized like this...

They're planning to make a Saw 4...to generate more media attention I suggest to give Haun a part in it and slaughter him for real without special effects. Like that pig contest, Saw 4 is also entertainment so guess he won't mind to suffer for entertaining purposes.

 

on news.com.au there was the article saying the pig was left to bleed to death...very painful

I just got back from taiwan and seriously, they have some massive pigs...just on the street or in the park too

 

its like the scapegoat dont remember what religion it was tho... where they burn the goats after writing their sins on them but this one is a freakin parade
