Lux Aeterna by Clint Mansell Hear this track on like every movie trailer now, wtf, mostly for devastating movies though lol, but i don't think any movie using this song can match up to the "devastation" of the ending of requiem for a dream cause that shit was pretty damn intense and fucked up...
OMG, I loved this theme when I saw "Requiem for a dream", the 3 variations (Summer Overture, Hope Overture, Winter Overture and Lux Aeterna) I LOVED the film so much for its intensity, Clint Mansell is really good at creating the atmosphere with the music (same with his work for the film Pi)... I hated LotR2's trailer for stealing it... And every single trailer which used the theme thereafter.
Oh man, I had almost forgotten about this Lux Aeterna track! Yup, it suits Requiem For A Dream the best, such a great, intense and gripping movie!
^ most recently it's being played for that "sunshine" trailer, so if the movie is getting promoted on tv, you'll be hearing alot of this song lol
its basically about people who fucked up their lives really bad by becoming drug addicts. One of the best movies on showing the true nature of drug addiction and how far it could go
^I couldn't believe how far seemingly normal people will go for drugs. (edited as my earlier comment might be a spoiler for those who haven't seen it yet.)
^Spoiler WARNING: Yea a sex scene is usually supposed to be arousing in movies but damn it makes you so uncomfortable when they blend all the events together near the end, makes it very hard to watch...and also she was hugging the drugs after the scene, proof that she didn't give a fuck about her life anymore...
It still works fine here...you sure you haven't accidentically hit the mute button? (happens to me every now and then hehe)
There are certain film I don't mind as much even if they rip off this theme song, but there are times when it just gives me the cringe that a crappy or stupid film uses such an amazing theme. I loved how they shot up, with the split-screen for their iris blowing up... Priceless. And the music is super memorable, makes you SO uncomfortable (especially with the game show music...) As for spoilers: I think the whole film is just an extremely uncomfortable thrill ride, it was disgusting and arousing at the same time... I was REALLY scared the whole time... The tension is overwhelming the whole time.
^ yea the story about the mom and the gameshow was just really sad, it was like the favorite acting and storyline for me in the movie though...
I think Ellen Burstyn, the actress who played the mother, was nominated for various awards including the Oscar and Golden Globe... -dead -dead -dead to those who rip off from greatness -devil
