For all the people that could afford to buy early and had the money to satisfy the apple urge don't despair...damn I wouldn't spend so much money just for a phone. The New York Times September 6, 2007 Apple Offers a Credit to iPhone Buyers By KATIE HAFNER SAN FRANCISCO, Sept. 6 — Apple said today that it would credit $100 to customers who bought an iPhone at the full price of $599. The announcement came after early adopters of the cellphone complained of the $200 cut in the price of the 8-gigabyte iPhone announced Wednesday, only two months after it first went on sale. To demonstrate his flexibility, to say nothing of his listening skills, Steven P. Jobs, the Apple chief executive, has done a partial back flip since Wednesday’s announcement. In an “open letter to iPhone owners” posted on the Apple.com Web site this afternoon, Mr. Jobs said Apple would give all iPhone owners a $100 store credit toward the purchase of any product at an Apple Retail Store or the Apple Online Store. Mr. Jobs said he had received hundreds of e-mail messages from customers upset about the precipitous price drop coming just two months after the iPhone was introduced. Still, Mr. Jobs defended his decision to drop the price in preparation for the holiday season: “This is life in the technology lane,” he wrote. So hasty was the move that details are still sketchy. “Details are still being worked out and will be posted on Apple’s Web site next week,” Mr. Jobs wrote. Katie Cotton, an Apple spokeswoman, said Mr. Jobs’s words were “very heartfelt.” “Our customers trust us, and we want to keep it that way,” she said. The New York Times Company
"$100 store credit toward the purchase of any product at an Apple Retail Store or the Apple Online Store" smart....u can only buy accessories from that amount of money.... so if u wanna buy something nice it means u will have to spend more cash....-unsure
Smart moves. There must be lots of ppl falling for this marketing strategy saying how apple care about their customers and then return to buy more products.
lol that's so true man, apple has their ways of brainwashing people lol, those people who bought it at the start got ripped off really bad lol, it's not like a $50 drop but a $200 drop in a couple of months damn but now you only getting back not money, but iphone and ipod accessories lols...
Good strategy IMO. If people are stupid enough to fall for it then who cares, as long as I don't... You can't expect companies to care for the consumer's thoughts. Its all about money and getting the idiots to waste it. AKA ppl who bought iPhone first day :\
If you're stupid enough to waste that much money for a phone then you don't get any right to complain about price drops! They should be happy that they're even getting anything out of this deal!
