Any pros at Photoshop CS2 here...

Is there a way to edit your text font of a banner in CS2?

I aint a pro but I can answer that question.

You have to have the PSD. file in order to change the text

you mean you dont have the text layer seperated? Its merged with another layer?

when the original text layer is merged with another layer, the text is rasterized and there is no way back, unless you delete that merged layer. I would suggest for the next to duplicate your text layer when you want ot merge it with another layer, or just simply apply a new image, that way you can always edit you stuff no matter what you did :)

and if you dont mind you can send me the psd, I might be able to figure something out, not sure though :)

    That's OK.. thanks anyway :D

So, next time before i add any text, i click new layer? Or Duplicate layer? Or i click dup layer AFTER addin the text?

uh no :p before you add text, make a new layer, write your text, then make another new layer, go to image>apply image so its merged on a new layer and not on the original layer, with the original layer you can still do anythign you want such as editing :)

Actually, writing text with the text tool will automatically create a new layer. It's a text specific layer that will not allow any other modifications unless the layer is rasterized. -detect

Going back to the original topic: If all the layers of the PSD have been merged, getting rid of the original text is possible but it won't be an easy process. You would have to recreate the background and cover up the text then reapply the text. If you need any help with that, feel free to contact me. :)
