I'm looking to buy a handbag for the wife, and I need ideas. What's the hottest handbag this year or the most desirable? Or if you have a favorite or own a fabulous bag, please feel free to share. Pics with the name will be the most helpful. Anything up to $1000 USD is fine. She's between 25-30 yrs old, likes medium sized bags. Most of her "collection" are totes, with a few hobos. She doesn't like clutches, purses, or backpack type bags (ie small bags). She likes unique looking bags and loves the attention it draws. Favorite brands include Coach, Furla, Juicey Couture, and small boutique labels. She likes things like furry edges, velor/velvet materials, lighter shades & brighter colors, as well as bold leather trimmings/decorations on the bags. Thanks in advance to anyone who has any ideas.
What about these ones? Please do not blame my idea! ] You're really a good & considerate gentleman. You're my model!-worship
For fall/winter season, it's easier to find fur-trimmed handbags than colourful ones... But generally, you can try Marc by Marc Jacobs Cole Haan Longchamp Furla Isabella Fiore Kooba
Thanks for the suggestions Danny. I love the colors; but they're a little too small for her. She carries "Everything" in her purse lol so she'll need more "tote" sized bags. Hi Hiake! Thanks for the suggestions. I like the ones quoted that you suggested. I esp like the Cole Haan one, simple yet elegant and the leather looks beautiful. However I have a feeling the wifey is gonna like the Marc Jacob one ^_^ Anyone else with suggestions? More the merrier!
Some more: Andrew Marc Be & D Cole Haan D & G Dolce & Gabbana Goldenbleu I think the colour was really cute. -^_^ Gustto Michael Kors I know a lot of girls are eyeing this bag... Though it looked kind of boring -unsure Kate Spade! And two more Isabella Fiore Catchy patthern -tongue2
Oooh, I like these too (quoted ones). Thanks Hiake =) Lol, I'm glad you two are on the forums =) How about you BR, what are your favorites / suggestions? I'm sure you'll get all of them someday......or you can find a rich hubby & have him buy it for you =) I spent about 20min @ the Coach shop. Here are the ones that caught my eye. What do you ladies think? This one looks like the Michael Kors one you picked out: COACH LEGACY LEATHER SATCHEL $770 HAMPTONS SIGNATURE STRIPE LARGE CARRYALL (Medium shown) $400 Coach Lily Leather Satchel $1200 SIGNATURE STRIPE MULTI-FUNCTION TOTE $400 GALLERY SIGNATURE TOTE $330 I'm really leaning towards the Legacy Leather Satchel (the one that looks like the Michael Kors bag ); Thanks for the inspiration =) By the way, what the heck is the difference between a Satchel & Hobo versus a "purse" or "handbag"? Oh, in my search for the perfect bag, came across this website which I think you ladies will enjoy: http://www.pursepage.com/
Not a fan of COACH, no offense. But the legacy leather does indeed look best out of the ones you post, since I really am not a fan of the COACH double C canvas print -sweat Purse and Handbag indicate size while Satchel and Hobo or Tote indicate style... Methink -unsure
Lol, that's what I say as well. I personally don't like brands that use emblem imprinted materials (Dooney, Coach, LV, etc...) It's not my job to advertise for their products. But if the wife likes & it makes her happy, then I'm happy getting it lol =)
This miu miu coffer seems popular right now and come in different colours; black, white, bronze, green etc etc. And I think it also comes in leather as well as suede.
LOL, if she likes printed canvas, she would love those COACH bags... @blueduck: That Miu Miu bag is like 1500 USD...
@blue_duck: Thanks for the suggestion =) @hiake: wow, that lil thing cost $1500? Why? I'm curious why women are willing to pay so much for a purse. The leather is probably not more than $20-40, The bag looks nice, but the design is not particularly eye catching IMHO. So is it the brand name? I should have gone into fashion and sold purses & shoes instead lol =) Yeah, my wife pretty much loves anything coach. But for some strange reason, she doesn't like LV at all...she thinks their Logo canvas looks tacky...but I sometimes look at coach and think the same thing lol =P
I was very in love with a Hermes handbag a few years back, so I did some research on why designer handbags cost so much... A high quality hangbag, supposedly, should be made from a single piece of leather to ensure no uneven colour/dye. So the leather has to be one HUGE piece, and it would cost more than a few smaller pieces. For monogrammed fabrics (such as LV), the pattern on the handbag would match over a seam, so it takes a lot of manual labour to ensure a LV is indeed a LV... Then, there's the linings, they often uses silk and are attached to the form of the handbag, and in order to NOT ruin the shape/form of the handbag with the stitches, they need to be sewn in extremely closely to the seams of the exterior shell... One note worth mentioning, leather goods are so expensive to manufacture because any mistakes CANNOT be reversed, a stitch hole remains on the leather for the rest of their natural lifespan -- so it would require even higher standard of production to ensure the goods are properly made (and expensive mistakes are accounted for in the retail price of a handbag) Most of them handbags are hand made in ateliers at certain expensive locales (i.e.: Italy, though I still think French got better craftsmanship)... sometimes, even the hardware (like the handle and clasp etc) are hand made or in semi-precious metal (silver/gold instead of plated silver/gold) And these things add up... not to mention designer brands are created to RIP OFF consumers -tongue2
lol... i dunno why girls spend so much on bags either... my ex works at coach and i usually get 50-65% off =) and then i sell them on ebay... haha. i think i have 5 bags still, around $300 each retail. needless to say she has lots of coach purses. -.-
Never been a fan of COACH since day one... It's one of those brands which leaves me in confusion as to why on Earth would a handbag would cost so much without luxurious fabrics etc... -sweat
