The iPhone dropped in price to 400USD.

if i get an iPhone I'm going to get rid of my Ipod video, that will probebly get me about 200USD
also there is a promotion going on that you get 100USD in store certificates for apple store

so it seems like the iphone would only cost me about 100USD
and i was willing to pay up to 300USD for a new phone

    although I called but cingular
right now i'm on a family plan that is costing me 90USD (paying for two additional lines for my parents)
but if I get the iphone my plan would go up to 110USD, and I would have to sign a 2 year contract

do you think it is worth it?
it would cost me 240USD additional to my phone plan a year
but to have internet on my phone all the time

do you think it's worth it?

20 dollars a month for internet, when i already have high speed at home
but having it on the road

IMHO the iphone is crap...its just another marketing ploy from apple to get you spend money with them...if anythin i would wait till the 2nd or 3rd gen of the phone came out before i would even consider getting one.

    no a2dp support
    no 3G support
    no mms
    no voice dialing
    no mp3 ringtone
    no 3rd party software support
    poor exchange integration...if any
    and can't take video

Also, the The Iphone is using Edge, so its going to be really slow mobile internet speed that you get.
Why exactly do you want to get the Iphone? What, besides replacing your ipod, does it really offer you?
As for being worth it, in my case anyways, its not. There are far more better phones out there that are being offered by carriers.
When i say better phones, i am referring to windows mobile devices and also keeping in mind features that they offer. The Iphone has its own appeal and features, however, are these ones that will benefit you?

The thing is you can still get the 4 GB for $300 USD.

  5. the 100 bucks thing... i thought it was only for those who have purchased the iphone before the price reduction...

i forgot to add...the iphone is only good in America...if you roam to eupore or asia...it becomes a giant brick, unless you pay AT&T's ridiculous global roaming charges

i think dan and fear are right on the 100 apple store credit....i think it applies to people who purchased their phone before the 200 price drop

I'd still wait. Knowing Apple, a new/more convenient model will come out soon. The first model is like a bug-test. Wait for newer versions! (It'll price drop too probably)

Yup you can only get that discount with the pre reduction iphone, and also i dunno if you can get 200 for a used ipod video, because there are already newer versions out.... well depends on how big it is. And yea iphone is not good for a portable internet device i don't think so. Oh yea and i don't think an iphone would be a good substitute for a ipod video as a mp3 player because of it's limited size.

  11. ^ btw... canadian buyers... dont EVER upgrade. unless you want a pretty looking shiny silver brick.

yeah, don't get it, they're still fixing bugs. a lot of em. plus, i don't think you'd be using all the functions available on the iPhone anyway?

all sold out in my area

I'm not going to be on many global travels
and even if so, i'm still keeping my old phone as a spare

I did like the idea of using the net on the road, and i didn't mind having less size on my Ipod if having the internet is the trade off
But i guess if the internet is useless than that defeats the purpose in which why i want it

    OHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH
ok that makes a big difference
