Have you ever thought that you stopped liking someone, but then you realized that you still have feelings for them?

I posted a thread before about how I felt different towards my boyfriend after taking a close to 2-month vacation. I thought that I didn't like him anymore, because every time he called me, I wasn't really looking forward to talking to him and we didn't really have any real conversations anymore, like the way we used to talk.

This Tuesday, he broke up with me. Let's call him Jack. He told me online that we should be friends - "best friends" and that we should break up because we act like strangers in school, when we see each other. He told me that everything was his fault and that he rushed things. So basically, he broke up with me online. I was actually kind of relieved at first when he broke up with me, because I was getting tired of avoiding him and I felt kinda bad to break up with him, because I felt like he has done too much for me. But, another part of me was feeling kind of heartbroken. I guess I still have feelings for him. I was going to ask him if he still had feelings for me, but then one of his friends, who I also know IMed me. Let's call him Mike.

Mike told me that Jack liked another girl before him and I started going out. Let's call her Tracy. Jack and Tracy liked each other, but Mike told me that they were too afraid to ask each other out. Also, Mike said to me that Tracy was really hurt when she found out Jack and I were going out. I did know that Tracy liked Jack, but I thought it was awhile before we started going out. He then told me that during the time when I was avoiding Jack (because I didn't know whether or not I should break up with him or not), Jack was always hugging/touching Tracy and picking her up from class. Mike heard this from Tracy, but he didn't exactly witness it happening. He told me that Tracy hated Jack for this, because she knew that he was supposedly going out with me. Mike said to me that I wasn't supposed to know these things, but since I was his friend also, he wanted me to know the truth. Mike told me that Jack liked Tracy while we were going out and he thinks that Jack was just using me to get Tracy jealous.

After hearing all these things, I was really hurt and even though I just heard it from Mike and it might not be true, I still believed the things he said. I thought Jack was someone special, and different from the other guys. But it turns out, he's just another one of those jerks.

I decided not to ask Jack if he still had feelings for me, because even if he did, we can't be together anymore. Now, I feel so hurt and heartbroken. I just realized that after we broke up that I still care a lot about him, but I've been hearing from some people in the school that he likes Tracy now.

Am I supposed to believe the things that Mike told me about Jack and Tracy?

yes, mike could be lying to you. BUT he could also be telling the truth. if he wass lying to u, either mike himself likes u, or he just wants to be an ass. but in this situation, i think its ur beloved jack who's being a jack-ASS who cant make up his mind and wants to be 2 timing. the two month of summer vacation could be just a period where u guys didnt see each other .. im not trying to be offensive, but it sounds like you guys are either still in highschool or even younger.. (hence 2 months of vacation compared to 4 months for uni students) .. but if yur 'group' was more mature, you wouldnt have to feel this way. because even without SEEING each other for a while, you should be secure enough to still think of him and stuff while u and jack were apart. you said u felt he was special.. im sorry to break it to u hun, we probbaly have all felt that way one point or another.. only to find out that it was just infatuation and a waste of our precious time. take it easy.. good things come to those who are patient. let this one go. dont dwell on it. because yur gonna find someone much better soon. and "jack".. will soon be a thing of the past.

i'd say try to forget about it... keep living your life and doing what you're doing. if he has feelings for you still, he'll be the one to tell you, it's useless and probably worst if you tell him you still have feelings for him, so don't.

I remember this guy I used to go out with, we'll call him Chris. We had this one mutual friend, we'll call him Eric. So Eric told me that Chris wasn't interested in me anymore and that he thought there might've been someone else he liked, which led to our eventual breakup. But then after that, we became better friends and I asked him about it, and he told me he never told anything like that to Eric. And I found out Eric lied to me because he liked me, so he wanted us to break up. And it was confirmed later because Eric asked me out.

So do you think this Mike guy has a reason for lying to you? And if he did, what would it be and what would be the benefit of lying to you? I'd probably go and ask Jack about it, but then if you don't feel comfortable doing that, I don't think you can really do anything about it then. And if you find out it was true that he was just using you, then use that as a way to get over him faster. You deserve a lot better.

um well I got mad at Eric and I told him no, but then we stayed friends anyways. but now we're split up because we go to different schools and I don't talk to Eric or Chris anymore

well I would say even though it would be hard to trust Jack with what Mike said, you never really know what the exact truth is. Maybe it didn't happen like Mike said. The bottom line is you have to ask yourself a question, Do you still like Jack? If the answer is YES, then you have to figure out if he's still worth pursuing. If he really likes Tracy, then it'll be a long battle to win him back. If you want to get back just because of what Mike said, then I say it's not worth it.

Since, like you said, Mike didn't witness them with his own eyes, he's just reporting rumors back to you. So, even if you trust Mike, what he told you might still not be true....

So, I think, for your own well being, you should get a talk with Jack, even if you two can never be together anymore and such. Not knowing, living in doubts will just keep on bothering you, no matter how hard you try to get this all behind you. At least, when you know what really happened or what has really gone on, you'll be able to really heal...

And maybe what you're feeling is more emptiness than love for him. Like you said, you didn't even feel like talking to him and it just didn't click anymore.

ever think mike is just over-hyping the situation cuz he wants u to be angry and desperate to make jack jealous...may be mike wants you to be with him...and since he's told u "everything"... u might think mike is a good person and someone u can trust...

no offense but i think mike just wants u to get with him...cuz no true friends would snitch about their friends...well none of my friends would...i dont think -blush
