so these people have never killed a rat/mouse that got in their house? or slapped a misquito?

fuken hypocrites. life is all around us and we destroy more of it every day.

a foetus isnt even truly human imo, its just a amalgam of biological tissues, and those tissues are just carbons, hydrogens and oxygens. the only thing that makes a human being human is our consciousness. if someone can prove to me that an unborn baby within the first few months of pregnancy actual experiences thought processes and can react to stimulae, then i will switch my views on the issue.

it might seem like a cold perspective, but im basing my argument on science and science is often unfeeling.

You know what sucks? Every election year we have this mock election at school. It doesn't count towards anything except for statistics to see how high schoolers would vote if they could. And every election the Green Party wins by 40-50% at my school.

@ fearless scientifically i agree with you and also the only one who can define their foetus as a actual human lifeform is the mother since she's the only one who can feel the presence of the "life" in the baby. other people can't really call it a "human" yet. Abortion is such a biased issue though.

Green party looked really good on paper... if only we have unlimited budget and efficiency in addressing the issues... -mellow

So if the mother decided to abort, and take the stance that a fetus is actually just a piece of unfeeling flesh... Then what??? -huh

im pretty sure most of the green party's policies would require some massive tax hikes... lol as your fellow high schoolers probably dont pay taxes themselves, they probably havent taken that into account.

i hate it when the government takes like 200 dollars off my paycheque

@hiake ok i'll try with a straight up answer ignoring all morality values. The mother is the one who has to go through the emotional and physical pain of giving birth to the baby, other people cannot feel that don't have to feel that. The father is really just planting a seed into the soil, he probably would have emotional feelings but if he don't want the baby too. i think the mother should have the right to abort. I mean yea she can have the kid and give it up for adoption and all but i think it should be her choice and not others. If she saids it's a piece of unfeeling flesh, then i guess we should take it and shut up. Damn lol this is a really loose/bad/ absurd example but here it goes: it's like when you shit, people can't tell you to hold it in, it's in your body, you created it, and you gotta let it out ya know, gotta do it lol.

LOL, glad we are on the same page.

I am just upset and annoyed by those who claim to put unwanted children to foster system -- it eats up the welfare budget pretty quick, and still creating problematic teens which are more prone to a criminal life.

While I don't endorse a overly liberal attitude to sex (safer sex means less chance of conception = fewer chance of actually NEEDING abortion). I would put it up to the mother (with the womb) to make the call. If she's underage, unable to rear the child realistically (aka financially), etc etc.

@hiake yea so we now gotta question if future bad people are worth saving lol... now it kinda crosses over to the death penalty/life imprisonment problem...sorta lol

It may sound amoral (not immoral), but I am for death penalty. Was that surprising (probably no since I am known to be pessimistic in regards to the human condition, inherently evil and all).

Life imprisonment of course is the more human and preferable option, if we have unlimited resource (both financially and spatially) But no, we don't have spare change to keep the penal system growing and well-maintained...

    Sad but true. :(

^ yea that's kinda similar to abortion, although definitely not in all cases, i'm just generalizing this to a whole nother level: abortion is kinda the death penalty no after effects, less to care about, life-imprisonment is kinda like having the baby then put it into foster homes, maybe a painful life and more support and care needed. The difference here though is that the baby did nothing wrong (moral value issue here again) and could probably make the society a better place.

But the thought that the baby could probably make the society a better place is simply a speculation, if anything, I would side with children growing up in foster system(s) being more prone to a marginal lifestyle...

i manned one of the poll booths today, and trust me: no one knew what the HECK the referendum was about. what a waste of money trying to inform ppl. they informed nobody.

It was really terribly campaigned... I actually had to research on the referendum (to be anywhere near being an informed voter). >.<

I must give them a kudos for wording the options so that no human being on Earth without a political science degree (or Law degree, for the matter) can have even the faintest idea what the two options are. It's all about the jargons... -dead
