This is simple a great move from the BC government. The combination of eastern and western medicine will definitely revolutionize the health care system tremendously. *woot woot*

I am sure this is just a start, Chinese medicine will definitely play an increasingly bigger role in modern medicine.

Beijing is still pretty far from Hong Kong, thought you may be able to catch a glimpse of the post-Olympic Beijing if you got into the hypothetical exchange program.

^ I dont mind being in Beijing, its such a nice city. Maybe ill be able to pick up mandarin and learn my writing and reading skill properly IF the exchange program will be developed. *sighs* but i doubt itll happen during my school yrs.

And the new shiny Music building. <_<

I am just glad the statue still stands (sits?) in front of the new building.

some insurance companies do cover acupunture treatments

i think chinese medicine is a great alternative if the western method isn't working good enough.

lol.. that makes chinese medicine sound less effective than western medicine which is a misconception. Most western medication only address the symptoms while chinese medicine addresses the root of the illness.

Go to a western doctor and say, 'I've fever'. What do they give you? painkillers.. you can practically prescribe your own medicines.. cough.. buy cough syrup.. flu.. get some flu medicine..

o well.. shall leave it as that.. you can believe whatever you like. :p

The difference between Chinese and Western medicine is in fact summarized by Xiaojia, however, to someone who has a busy lifestyle (aka work), Western medicine trumps Chinese medicine as the first choice since the painkillers/antibiotics and whatnot supposedly suppress the symptoms and let said person return to work ASAP.

I've tried Chinese medicines, they involves food restrictions (which isn't a pain to me), long hours of rest, weekly check ups, for 3 MONTHS. And it wasn't even a major illness, just that I wanted to get rid of it instead of waiting for the next come-back of the same illness. To say the least, I can only afford the practice of Chinese medicine because I was a student, study/work from home.

For persisting illness(es), Chinese medicine would be a better option since the symptoms aren't going away any time soon. But if you need to get back to your life 10 minutes after taking whatever medication you've got? Chinese medicine often fails to deliver.

^ haha.. thats true.. cos Chinese med wasn't meant for that. When one is ill, the aim is to rid the illness and bring back health, and not as a temporary relieve. The issue I have with western medicine is the dose. It becomes a habit to increase dose as one's body get more immune to the effects of the particular drug.. which is not too great for the health.. kinda contradict the point of visiting a doctor in the first place. So I try to avoid visiting the doc straight away for every little symptom. Just drink more water and sleep more.. and take some chinese herbal drinks before the symptoms develop.. pre-symptoms? haha.. sort of like knowing you are going to fall sick soon and doing sth abt it. works for me most of the time..

I hate the fact that Western medicine has a million interaction problems, you can't take this with that blah blah. But it serves its purpose at times.

chinese medicine actually works really well ... it's just that we chinese have different ways of healing.
western medicine just has pills and stuff
