http://www.cnn.com/video/#/video/tech/2007/10/12/lawrence.airport.screening.cnn It is a CNN Live report. I found it quite interesting. I was recently on vacation this summer and going through two airports -- LAX and Houston Int'l Airport -- the long lines and stern-faced TSA agents made the airport experience time-consuming and annoying. Hopefully, most International Airport will invest the money to buy these machines.
I'll just try my best in avoiding US airports... They are as inefficient and slow as those two adjectives can possibly describe.
well thats because they have to be cautious of terrorists. but if u can't wait just don't go to the US. i've never been and i don't think that i'm missing out on much rele.
I personally don't think all these "precautions" are doing much good in preventing terrorist attacks. I mean, I have yet read a single news article saying that it's actually EFFECTIVE in catching terrorists (and believe me, if they EVER catch even one terrorist almost in the act, they will be on international headlines praising how effective they are). All they do is give everyday travelers inconvenience. *SIGH*
^ the thing is -- when they do "catch" or "stop" an potential terrorist. it become even more of a hassle and inconvenience for the rest of the normal flyers. like, the situation with the "Shoe-Bomb" terrorist. Now, all airports asks all flyers to remove their shoes. then there was the "bottle" incident -- now, all airports do not allow bottle-container more than 3 oz. the problem is -- they are not finding an overall resolution to the terrorist problem but simply taking it step-by-step. I joked (silently, of course, or else I won't be here right now. >.>) if I had a bomb in my underwear -- they probably would ask all flyers to remove their underwear before they fly. it is simply a wrong way to deal with airport security.
nope that would be an invasion of privacy but they would probably search and touch everybody up to see if they had a bomb before they went on an airplane.
^ no. when it come to "National Security" the TSA has the right to search (strip) and if necessary to detain an individual with the best of their ability. therefore, an individual's rights -- are subdue or placed second to the safety of the majority. that means ... if you even joke about bombing -- they have the right to arrest you. So, even the right of freedom of speak doesn't apply within the ground of an US airport. but, i understand your point. however, the TSA can physically search everyone -- or use this new machine to do it.
well it seems ok........... but i am sure that most people who will go through it are people who look muslim...... when i was going to new york they patted down 2 muslim men behind me even though they had nothing concealed......
Pretty cool....but still haha...weird if there is a pervy in there..... But i do prefer being "screened" than to get checked by "hand" Ive been through 4 airports to get from syd to ams the most annoying one was Heathrow...so strict....damn... make me take of my shoes and my jacket and almost get whole body massage... needed to take samples of my facial cream and was only allowed to bring one piece of hand luggage...whereas the others was allowed to have 1 + 1 laptop/briefcase.. I had 1 bag from taxfree shopping, laptop, handluggage (trolley) + my handbag...! had to force my handbag and shopping bag into my trolley...=/
