Was at a store this morning and saw a sign that says 1US Dollar = .90 CDN.... Scary... looks like it is going to continue....bad for the states...
I kind of look forward to what kind of "incentive" can curb this failing of the USD. Out of sheer curiousity. At the same time I worry that Canadians get too far ahead of themselves and may get to a point where products are expensive both North AND South of border...
hehe... advantages: more dollar power in the states and other countries...can import goods at a lower cost disadvantages: harder to export skills/stuff to the states...unless it is something that they really need...like lumber, resources, etc.
I never quite consider Canada has any worthy export besides bad althletes and natural resources -tongue2
the only reason the USD was ever strong was because of the middle east agreement to only accept payment for oil in USD. after all these wars and watever else that has changed now and they accept euroes among other currencies....... bye bye USD.
Another reason USD was strong was that there was a policy/release that for each USD floating in the market, the government has 1 gold coin for it in the reserve. Which means, no matter how much USD depreciates, it would always be worth AT LEAST as much as a gold coin. Nobody ever verifies the validity of that release/claim, but surely nobody was missing out buying more USD, which pushs the currency UP. But now, with the scandals and all, people just lose confidence to USD due to an already weakening economy... -pirates
^ yeahhh remember that one too. i wander if its possible to trade currency for the gold is supposedly worth.
It was probably just a scam to inflat the currency... -whistle But got to give it to the US for such a brilliant plan...
gonna convert to some usd soon...looks like the usd is gonna to hit 80 cents CDN at the rate it is going... ps. intelluctual skills are also considered an export...e,g engineering ...ahem...ahem... hehe
90 cents? Odd, at my work place 1 USD= .95 A lot of Canadians are taking advantage of it, my brother did more online shopping than he ever did before. But what ticks me off is how some sellers refuse to take CAD unless its at par.. or the exchange is equal (they stated that in their rules) I seriously hate going to the bank and wait in line to get USD -___-'
yeah aussie dollar is high against the USD atm...good time to buy some new music gear ...though shipping still will add to the cost :(
bought some stuff from the states online..@$@#$@#$ it took a lonnnnggggg time to ship over...like 2 weeks...... they say it is the customs....but I think they were lying. @%@%@
