I'm abc, so my cantonese isnt great but still good enough to get my points through. but when i find myself struggling for words, i just switch to chinglish and it just cracks my friends up. i actually like chinglish i thinks its fun. =] what do you guys think?

    Chinglish has two definitions.

    1) According to hkers, Chinglish is the 'poor English' spoken by Hong Kong people.
That's what my HK friends told me. It's true, English of today's generation in HK is not that great.

    2) According to overseas Chinese, such as CBCs and ABCs, Chinglish is speaking Chinese using some English words here and there, ie. mix.

So it really depends on how you look at it. But in the case of the the member who started the thread - I think he is referring to definition #2.

I am a CBC. Most of the time I try to speak pure Chinese at home but sometimes it's easier to speak chinglish. Especially between my siblings~ Although, my parent's friends said that they are amazed by my level of Chinese since I am cbc~

That's what happens with me. Sometimes, my Chinese isn't good, and there is some vocabulary that I'm not familiar with, so whenever I want to express myself with more advanced terminology, I would have to use English in place of the Chinese words that I don't have a grasp of... So...I speak Chinglish ALL the time, even though I try not to sometimes, but it's hard as I'm an ABC...
