falling asleep with gum is really nasty haha, happened to me like once. don't ever do it i'm kinda surprised i didn't swallow it though.
I always thought that sugarless chewing gum 'sticks' away the plaque in your mouth (or some extra food bits stuck here and there) so chewing a stick of sugarless gum after eating keeps (to some degree) food from staying on your teeth and causing bacteria buildup. I think anything over 15 minutes is more than enough for that effect. But then, I've noticed that chewing bubblegum for too long causes a lot of gas since you swallow a lot of air into your stomach causing you to have stomach problems *cough*
no, chewing gum after you eat helps produce saliva to neutralise the acid in the mouth so it helps prevent cavities. I dont think it really matters how long you chew it, but once i chewed it for so long that it turned into liquid? i can't remember what it felt like, but it was nasty, like goo or something lol -bigclap
ah crap...just found a packet of extra in my pants pocket...and I washed that pants just a days ago...
it's actually really bad to chew gum non-stop.. when you're chewing, your brain sends a signal to your stomach to get ready for digestion by secreting stomach acid, so if you're not actually swallowing anything, the acid will just build up in your stomach
Not entirely true. People with braces told me their dentist told them to chew gum. It like.. gets rid of all the excess food or something. Not necessarily as effect as brushing, but when you're out or something, chewing it is atleast getting rid of some kind of bacteria/food
