wow u would pick chris kaman over yao? kaman is only doing good this year because who else is going to score for the clippers...their only other good player is corey maggette. if you look at houston, they have more depth, they have other players who can also score, so it doesnt always have to go to yao. if they swapped teams i think yao would have alot better numbers. not saying i think yao is the best center, just saying i think he's better than kaman. take a look at ai. his scoring dropped quite a bit since being traded denver. not many great centers in the league but ill say dwight howard is the best atm. and wtf is up with the bulls. all that talent and only won 2 games. paxton should just trade all his players for kobe. and then call up some d leaguers. prolly have a better chance at winning.
that's exactly my point! I would pick Kaman over Yao right now BECAUSE Kaman is carrying a team and Yao is being overshadowed by TMac... Yao has good player's around him, Kaman has decent players around him, but nothing near as good as "Yao's" Rockets... and the Clippers are still a .500 team like the Rockets... AI's numbers have dropped, but he's not "THE" guy anymore; thats Melo... if you are the best, then you are THE guy, the go to guy, the guy that steps up, the guy that carrys a team, the guy that the team can't win w/o... the Rockets can win w/o Yao since Scola came aboard... and the Bulls are dying cuz Ben Gordon and Hinrich can't shoot for their life...
^ ok. but i didnt say yao was the best. i was justing saying he's better than kaman. let me ask you this, if both players switched teams, would you think chris would still be doing as good?
Yao is definitely one of the better centers in the NBA right now. Hard to stop, no way you can stop him if you play iso with him
if Yao was a Clipper, he's probably not going to be the superstar he is now... he just isn't strong enuff... people would double team him all night cuz no one on the Clippers could help Yao open up the inside until Brand comes back... Chris could probably plug right in to the Rockets' lineup and play the same as he does now if not better... I believe if anything, Chris would benefit a lot by training with Mutombo... Talent wise, Yao is better... I don't argue that... his finesse is amazing... but Kaman is doing amazing things with a team that ought to be doing a lot worse w/o their star player...
This guys is fantastically unexceptionally tall.. With his height i think he could actually finish of Shaquille O'Neill anytime man.. Tho i am not a basketball fan la.. But from the newspaper i read i think he's performing really well in the NBA.
definitely. dwight howard is more dominating at the boards. it seems like dwight is shaq-like and yao is duncan-eske (even though duncan plays more of a power forward position).
IMO maybe shaq isnt the best but he is still good heres what marcus camby said about him "I try to mix it up a little bit when it comes to Shaq. I’m a guy who’s never going to stop him one-on-one. He probably outweighs me by 100 pounds. I like to play behind him and sometimes force the double team, or sometimes I like to play in front of him and try to make the entry pass a little bit tougher to get in to him. My main thing is to try to get up and down the court, especially in this altitude. If we can get him running, hopefully he’ll need to get subbed a little bit and get out of the game a little bit and give us a better chance. He’s still the most dominant force in the NBA. A lot of people talk about how he may have slowed down a little big, but I’ll take a slowed-down Shaq over just about any other center in the league right now. yao is not the best centre, he just gets the most attention because he was so hyped coming into the league and was the first asian basketball player to have any real impact in the league, he still needs to learn to use his size better and is way too injury prone
Yao Ming might not even be top 5 if he can't play 70+ games a season. He's been injure-prone for the last 3 seasons. I'll take Dwight Howard, Duncan (although he's more of a hybrid C-PF), Bynum, and maybe Kaman.
chris kaman, no way.... yao ming is definately within the top 5. how many centers can hit mid-range jumpers??? when yao is nearing the end of his career, he will still be able to score...unlike shaq
Yao's game is similar to pat ewing. Both have low post and the jumpers. I would say yao is top 3 for centers.
Yao is definitely the best center in the league right now... some people might say dwight howard... but dwight howard cant score like Yao and Yao has a bigger presence in defense even though dwight howard is the better defender
