I think this is very helpful to you guys on what AV to get. Don't get AVG anymore because it sucks, honestly it sucks trust me, it just detect anything, it detects some virus and most .dll files and might ruin your computer.

My advice is ESet well only if you are willing to buy the product. But if you want free and better than AVG it's Avast! Home Edition.

    Here's a MS Word Doc:

I can't upload it because it's graphs that compares the best Anti Virus today. 666kb file.

    Code:
    [url]http://www.sendspace.com/file/n3cb9n[/url]
    ESET Free 30 Day Trial
    Code:
    http://www.eset.com/download/index.php

Then you compare your previous AV to ESet,

If you don't want to download, just click the thumbnail.

I'm a computer programmer. Programmers know what good software to use when it comes to computer.

Not only Eset tested the softwares. Also

    AV-Test.org
    AV-Comparatives.org
    and Virus Bulletin (Virusbtn.com)

If you want your computer to be spyware and virus free. You must download:

    Spybot Search and Destroy
    Windows Defender
    Avast!(If you don't have Eset)
    Lavasoft Ad-Aware

No, not always. Programmer or not, you still have to do your homework, research on the program and test it out for yourself. A programmer can look at the code and tell whether or not the program was written efficiently.

Well, the difference between the ant-virus programs may be very minute. Some offer features that other don't and vice versa. The best think to remember that it all boils down to the user. Common sense and good judgment will save you from headaches.

Free is Avast! Home Edition, all you need is an email, Then they'll send you a keycode so you can prevail 1 year free. Then if that 1 year is done, go to their site and register again for another 1 year free. Avast! will scan your computer at the startup without disturbing you.

I tried the top 5 AV Programs. AVG, Norton, McAfee, Avast and ESet. I bought ESet because I trusted the program a very reliable program. You can check their website and their Virus Encyclopedia and compare it to others.

If you're going to do research about a particular anti-virus program, DON'T READ THE STATISTICS THEY GIVE YOU ON THEIR OWN WEBSITE. It's like going to a car dealer ship and ask about their car, they will NEVER tell you if there's anything wrong with it.

You said "DON'T READ THE STATISTICS THEY GIVE YOU ON THEIR OWN WEBSITE" true. I didn't do that. Read my previous post. I posted which site compares all AV Programs. Those sites are not A-V Programs, those site compares. I submitted my "homework" there. You can visit the site if your not satisfied.

You haven't done much reading on Norton and McAfee, have you? When you try to uninstall them, they're worst than viruses. Of course, I'm talking about the newer versions. The older ones are irrelevant because Norton and McAfee forces you to switch to the new ones.

I didn't recommend using both. McAfee has a great introduction and looks promising. But once you installed the program, you'll just say "What the hell" McAfee makes your computer slower than a turtle, it sucks at start-ups. Same with Norton.

i have eset, its pretty good. it doesn't seem to slow the performance of my pc down at all and scanning is very quick compared to others.

Actually, most if not all virus scan software has some form of start up scan. Some, more drastic than others.

But, this is only my opinion. It's up to you guys what to use.

I used ESet for 9months now. Now in that 9months, I haven't received any Virus since. My computer is clean because of

    Spybot Search and Destroy,
    Lavasoft Ad-Aware
    and Windows Denfeder.

But it's up to you guys what to use, just find an AV that suits you.

Those are not my graphs, it's from Virus Bulletin. Free isn't the thing, safety is. Well Kaspersky is good too. Kaspersky, Avast. But not McAfee and Norton. AVG is kinda problem, it has false positives about .dll files and just detect that file suddenly even though it's not a virus.
