If I don't know I'm stupid. But they both work on softwares. A programmer job is to code as per given design. A developer develops the software/module from understanding the requirement, then design the solution, code it and then test the same.

EDIT: Let's say, A programmer is the one who writes the program and the Developer is the one who develops the program. Sometimes vice versa.

A developer does not necessarily do the actual programming. He/she does the planning. This person or often persons are the mastermind behind the logic and algorithm responsible for the software they create.

A programmer is the person who does the actual coding aka "Code Monkey".

The difference between a software developer and a programmer is huge. Any fool who picks up an idiots guide on how to program can be a programmer but it takes years of experience and education to be a developer.

I've read several of your response and I would appreciate it if you stopped pretending to be a CS major.

He surely got owned there, he just said he's a student of Dr. Bjarne, well he doesn't talk like one. Dr. Bjarne's students never talks like that they're mighty.

This is really bugging me though. Developing and planning seems to be the same of some sort. Just making it clear. No argument for me. (I hate arguing>.<)

Actually, software development(planning) requires a lot more experience because it's more conceptual. The hardest part in programming is not the coding itself but figuring out the logic behind the solution to your problem. Programming can be compared to problem solving. ;)

    r u saying u don't haf any logic nas? :p

i foudn programming was never really the hard bit, as its mainly just all syntax, and formatting of that language.
its always trying to figure out what ur really trying to do thats the annoying part lol

yeah it seems fine for me too
well i don't really use it on my own pcs
but i've just bought a licence for a work server for the proj im using
its not that pricey either (at least for the network edition)
crazy price that i can't justify for the enterprise edition, especially wen its not even connected to the net

its got a nice and clean interface too
