An elementary student in Marion County was arrested Thursday after school officials found her cutting food during lunch with a knife that she brought from home, police said. The 10-year-old girl, a student at Sunrise Elementary School in Ocala, was charged possession of a weapon on school property, which is a felony. According to authorities, school employees spotted the girl cutting her food while she was eating lunch and took the steak knife from her. The girl told sheriff's deputies that she had brought the knife to school on more than one occasion in the past. Students told officials that the girl did not threaten anyone with the knife. Its precaution =), you can say that she didn't treatned someone before. But who can say that she wont stab someone with it when she is pissed off -what? 10 year olds dont know that if you stab someone, that the other person might not wake up ever again-.- But actually arrest her .....-noclue, just take this matter to her parents........

haha thats just funny, her parents are clueless for allowing her to take that knife in the first place. However i think the punishment is very strict.
i heard from someone here in australia that if a cop caught you having a knife in your bag and if you told him that it's for self defence...he will arrest you but if you told him that it's for cutting a fruit then he will let you go. but yeah, it's crazy getting arrested for cutting a food with a knife...
wow that is just unnecessary. a steak knife wont be able to kill anyone. steak knives arent even that sharp... arresting the girl for just cutting her food with a knife is kinda messed up.
actually yes, steak knives can kill someone easily. so can pencils. and pretty much anything. i agree that she shouldnt have brought the knife to school...but the punishment is insane

I can see why everyone seems to hate the government for "transporting , but a 10-year-old bringing a steak knife to school is pretty abnormal. What if you had a kid who goes to class with this girl and you suddenly found out that she brings the knife to school "on more than one occasion"? I can only imagine that you'd be buried in anxiety. And it's not like they're throwing her in juvenile jail or something, it's just an assessment center where the authorities probably wants to straighten out this situation. I can't imagine it being anymore serious than that.
