If this lawyer decides to take court action, is he going to represent himself, i wonder??? Maybe he wants to make himself a name to bring in business for himself, should he win the case....
This is utterly ridiculous. Chinese courts? You'll get a fairer judgment on a basketball court, just ask any of the thousands of Chinese in jail right now without benefit of trial. Far as I'm concerned, there is no rule of law in China, only the rule by law. And the law is whatever the politically connected say it is. BTW, if you flip the argument, it readily becomes: "You're in America, speak English" or some such. Plenty of lawsuits going on right now to force Chinese, Korean, or Japanese stores to display their signs in English too. My take, some Chinese lawyer trying to tap into Chinese national pride to make a name for himself. As far as I'm concerned, he's an ass. McDonald's is probably the most friendly and cooperative international corporation when compared to hundreds of others. If he wanted to stick up for China and Chinese, there are plenty of others he should go after; but it really ain't about that. It is only him trying to use a nebulous issue to inflate his own ego and fame, as in "I stood up to a US Corporation for the sake of the Chinese People!" Get a life is right. It is an insult to Chinese everywhere that he considers us so stupid as to not see through his self serving ploy. Ralph
this is just plain stupid, its a waste of money and people's time over something so small. it is very pedantic if u ask my opinion.
kinda strange law though. But not everyone know english and the receipts may confuse customers who only knows chinese.
As a matter of fact, the Chinese are already bucking up in learning English for the Olympics and this stupid lawyer is trying to act smart by creating something out of nothing!!! Eventually this lawyer should be put into jail for wasting people's attention and creating problem for Mc Donalds!!!
i think he did it more out of national pride than anything else. he probably didn't like the idea of the chinese trying to be american when its unnecessary. if it's in china, then why shouldnt it be chinese? most of the population can't even read english.
I would take it to court, why not? A lady sued McD's for coffee spilling on her and won 3 mil. It's worth a shot; the least he'll get is a settlement out of court.
well the mcdonalds case was diffterent b.c all she wanted was money to for surgury to fix her skin...but mcdonalds thought she was a nobody and didnt want to give her a cent,,,so it trickle through and they won...it wasn a misuse of the law...but rather punishment...but ppl want to remember it as huge amount of money for something stupid...
^^ That's true; she only wanted 20g's for the medical fees but they did not even want to give her that.
do people even get receipts in china........u cant even return stuff there.......why would you want a receipt........i remember dis summer id buy shit from kfc n they never gave me a receipt
why would you sue them for not having english? your in china!!! would you sue mac donald in america for not having chinese on its receipt?
