ITS SOOO FUCKING RETARDED. did you take 148? do you have paul as your prof? in order for us to get lecture notes, we had to go to the utsg section to get the notes. our prof (altho hes head of CS, and says whether you graduate or not) is so lame. he doesnt even post notes on the site altho he says he does. i skipped all of last week. and i come back today, just to find out we spend one whole fucking hour on this: Code: shoe_size = 13 def print_size(player): -----print player, shoe_size def setup_size(player): -----shoe_size = 8.5 -----print_size(player) setup_size('name') now he asks us what would be the output of shoe_size. 8.5 or 13. admittedly, i said 8.5 at first, but quickly changed my answer, because i forgot about global/local variables. HOLY HELL. so we spent one whole hour on shit like that.

But yeah, I kind of see that kind of retardation coming because 108 was soooo slow in teaching actual theories... actually.. it sucks for people who took 108 at utsg during the summer, where they had to learn java instead of python lol so for python people this is jokes, but for java, it may be a bit harder.. but yea... still...
I thought given the way it was taught at UTSC, I would say it cannot possibly be worse (in terms of how well-prepared the students are for 148), and I thought even Java got that whole local/global variable thing? Then why did you take it in the first place? Curiousity?
