You might be under alot of stress right now. My doctor told me that lack of sleep along with eating alot of deep fry foods can cause canker sores. I hate these sores but I found that no matter what medication you try or use it still takes the same amount of time to heal as if you don't take anything.

I recommend that you take Extra Strength MOTRIN to kill the pain just before your meals so that you can eat in comfort. Motrin will not heal the canker sore but it reduces the pain. Drink lots of water as this will wash away the bacteria in the canker sore and help heal it.

boost your immune system is the key to minimize recurrence. You know those Chinese medicine made from water melon seeds? It sure would help to numb/ease the pain. Especially when its so painful to eat anything.

Don't know about Chinese medicines or remedies. Traditionally thinking type of Chinese people will say Canker Sores are cause by consuming a lot of food products that are considered "hot air." Therefore to neutralize, you will be told to eat or drink food products that are suppose to be "cool." For some, this does work and for others it fails.

Other remedies is goggle salt mixed in hot water. Fill the cup say about half way or so, and like goggle it in your mouth about 3-5 times. After doing so, your mouth will be left feeling very salty. But repeat this like on daily basis and by time, your sores will be gone. I find this method quite effective.

Also, you can just leave a chewable vitamin C pill on the sore. This method will cause some minor pain, but another effective method.

    GOOD LUCK!!

I would also suggest to use warm salt water to rinse your mouth to kill the bacteria. But also go to the pharmacy to get the ointment to help relieve the pain.

canker sores should be left alone, once the epithelial renews itself in about 5 days, the pain will go away, however if you have an "unhealing sore, irriation or induration must be considered suspicious for maligancy"

pap stain? As in the same kind of stain they use for cervical smears? Lol...I didn't know you could do that!

A local anaesthetic like lignocaine might help with the pain of the ulcers. To keep them away, try taking daily vit B supplements.

  10. according to me not so good memory mine takes a lot less than 5 days to go away -sweat ... i guess i'm a lucky one -lol

^ You're probably too stressed up, or maybe your immune system is not working as well as it should. :p

5 days is the standard number in most text books for regeneration of oval epithelial. Pap stain and Pap smears are developed by the same guy, Dr George N Papanicolaou, so it has the same name. Pap stain is use for GYN (pap smear) and non Gyn specimens (FNA, touch prep) because it is great for looking at nuclear detail for detecting malignancy or viral changes cause by herpes and CMV. it is a standard stain most in histology classrooms, if it is aphthous ulcer (canker sores) look for non-herpetic effects, inflammatory background, slightly enlarged nuclei and acidophilic cytoplasm under the microscope. If it is herpes look for the ground-glass appearance and the 3M morphology

Herpetic ulcers don't normally appear in the mouth, do they? I always thought they normally present at the lip area

usually i try to brush my teeth really well and then either rinse with warm water mixed with either salt water or baking soda. i read somewhere that it helps neutralize the acid. not sure what the actual mechanism is but it usually works for me and it feels a lot better in the morning.

you can see herpes in any places with mucosal tissue, even in the oval cavity and the esophagus, most common in immunosuppress or AID patients

okay, i got another one (canker sore) haha, that's like 4-5 in 1 month 1/2 month ouch... but this one itsn't as bad cause it's in the back o_O

i asked on ask yahoo! about why im getting so many, and i got many suggestions o_O

i learned that, yogurt helps prevent canker sores! so therefore, imma share w/ every1 else here, that yogurt rox haha, anything else, just try to avoid yeethay type food (mostly fried stuff or acidy stuff)

also stress is a large cause of it, considering how much stress college is. . .

Huh? In the back? You mean the back of the mouth?? Ooohh...so many in one month...painful!

Haha...so how exactly does yoghurt help?

I'm very lucky I don't get it very often despite the high stress levels. But I do fall sick very very often (with a cold and a sorethroat) though...especially after slogging for my assessments.

mm yeah back of the mouth =D anything outside mouth would be bad bad news -.-,

yogurt helps the digestive system w/ all the vitamin-d i think(?), but then that causes the body to be less "yeet-hay"ish, so yeah =D iono it's just a theory, since there's no real cure/prevention for these, just gotta stay healthy

    yogurt is the bombdiggity anyways^_^

Ayohhhh....ive got 3 huge ones inside my mouth atm....its cuz of lack of sleep + my sleeping rhythm has changed...so my body is a bit messed up.... *OUCHHHHHH*

anyways....i went to the chemist yesterday and asked for something to put on them...
since it was a bloody chemist and the lady who sold it to me gave me advise etc i thought they knew what they were selling and it was ok to just use it...
but bloooody hell...they gave me the bloody wrong thing...and i used it....!!!

then....after a while i realised that it didnt help at all.......

so i read what was on the box....it was for freakin cold sores....and it also bloody said that it was for external use only

blooooody hell...anyways went back there today...and this girl who sold me the product recognized me and apologized...and i got another product which is actually doing its job....
