Couldnt have made it through college without borrowing textbooks. If ur lucky, sometimes u can get the one or two copy that they DONT reserve for courses at the library (which means its a reference and cant leave the library). Otherwise, it really pays to have nice relations with the seniors in ur particular major. Either that or have rich parents (really such a last resort)
lol they did that at our school , and sold us the books for $30 -_- which costed like $5 to make for one book
everybody ends up spending a lot of money in textbooks. but the money is of great use considering u need them to be able to get the degree u want and to be able to get a job. its a worthy investment.
As much as the last statement is attempting to sound convincing, the textbooks never serve as more than references later on in life. As my professors would say, it was worthwhile when they left college because they needed to keep the information handy. With the information age and the internet in full swing, even they have abandoned their textbooks to gather dust, when all the information they need is just a few clicks of a mouse away As for the rich parents part....i really dont know how to answer...lemme get some rich parents first lol
the internet is gd but there is so much useless info on the internet also and if ur revising for an exam then textbooks are def the way to go.
yeah like others said try look for them online first.... i usually get them online and also look for international editions (much cheaper) i just got my micro bio for 65 and bookstore sells for 166
i spent nearly 200 dollars maybe more, i 4got, on my text this semester, it was only like 3 books har har, i bought one book online, but i learned later that i already had it cuz my bro had taken the course few years back lolol, oh well, im trying to sign up for finicial aid, a lot of them for schools (community colleges @ least) have progmras where they lend u the books in which u need ( it hink it's 2-3 books max, but way better then nothing) for the semester and u return it next semester oh, and half.com is ftw
well with the internet these days u can always sell the book u just got and if u can get a refund since it is new and unused. i guess thats the priveledge from bookshops, u are able to get a refund if u find out that u already have the book.
Too bad you are not in Manilia. They buy one copy and bring it to the shop and recopy the whole for a cheap price.
i found ebooks and printed them off b4 lol but in the end, i do find the brand new textbooks much prettier and nicer to read off =) not like it makes much diff, cos i still dont' want to read it lol
Actually, that seems to be the Asian way to do it. At my school, I notice a lot of the international students will 'buy' a textbook, have it photocopied and then return the book to the bookstore. In all, the photocopied versions costs around $20.
U are lucky u can get it back from your tax.... i did use my tax refund, but since i am a foreigner, the tax lady at H&R Block said that i could not reclaim it as a part of my tax refund..... only holping i can resell it once i am done.... but again... the publisher changed the editon like every semester, so the chances of me selling those damn books are even smaller....
