[googlevideo]-7379357000737674731[/googlevideo] gahhhh, these kids lack so much general knowledge. how can you not know who Ghandi and Thomas Edison are??? Looks like US schools have been teaching students what to do, but not why they are doing it, or what things really mean. This isn't education, its conditioning.
Yes, and as sad as it sounds, the education system in many parts of the world stress on more academic knowledge rather than general knowledge. Besides, general knowledge cannot be taught. It comes with the interest to learn, and with reading.
^ Well, yeah. I correct myself. It's the thirst for knowledge that enables you to learn from everything that's around you.
^^American public schools imo are just day care for teens. Private and Prep schools actually prepare you for higher learning but public schools don't really educate. It's sad that I know some kids that don't even know there multiplication tables and cannot do math without a calculator.-noclue
American education has been going downhills for as long as I can remember. EDIT: They system is partly to blame. Even though there must be some motivation from the student. There also needs to be a efficient education plan that helps to encourage and support students. If they don't fix their the structure of their schools then the U.S. of A will forever have to live with their new title. "Stupidest Country in the World."
Well, first of all, I wouldn't say those US kids were stupid, but ignorant. And yes, kids this ignorant exist, when playing video games, watching tv, reading about star gossips, hanging out with friends without doing anything is more attractive than building up knowledge. And high school wise, ain't the ones doing these not instructive activities viewed as the "cool" kids and the ones interesting in learning viewed the geeks/nerds? And we all know that at their age, they want to have this sense of belonging to a group, and in most case, to the cool group. Kids need to be more motivated to learn and to understand what they are learning, either at school or by their own. While back in my high school days, I've heard lots of my friends and classmates saying why learn this if we aren't gonna use it when we grow up. But, you never know what you will be needing in the future. And besides, having lots of knowledge is cool IMO.
I just think that every generation has its fair share of ignorant, self-absorbed youths... The difference is that YouTube wasn't around 50 years ago to show how this classmate of your parents were so totally ignorant. Of course, one can blame technology, but since technology didn't stop SOME people seeking answers and actually pick up a book and garner knowledge outside of his/her pathetically minuscule world, I don't think technology is the only factor. And yes, kids this ignorant exist, in huge numbers.
wow..some of the kinds are retarded. i think this stems from the fact that we have so many thigns available via the internet and the abundent video games, so there are many kids that do that instead of actually picking up general knowledge from reading the newspaper or actually watching the news but i've noticed a general decline in the education system in america...its something we definitely need to look into if we want our kids to be able to compete with kids from around the world
Don't they have a certain standard that both need to comply to? I'm sure there's a guide as to what the students must know, should know, and what is good to know...
lol its not the kids who are brainless i saw a vid not too long ago, where some guy randomly asks people in the states about certain things, and one of the questions was: "Where is the Eiffel Tower located?" a few people were like.... "in New York?" lol
^ i'm quite suprised that the kids didn't say las vegas or something...since it does have the eifel tower also
