The "Nguyen" question

i probably know about 10 xD and maybe more, butmy last name is Hoang so that means im half viet =)

 

Are you part Laos? anyhow im "supposedly" suppose to have the last name Nguyen, but during my registration the nurse gave me my mothers last name which is Tran.

 

my mom's side is a nguyen

 

My last name is Nguyen.
It came from an Emperor of Vietnam in the 16th Dynasty? I don't know, ti's ANCIENT! But it's EVERYWHERE!

 

Why do you say it is last name ? For chinese, vietnamese it is supposed to be in the front of the name. The surname is in front and not the back.

 

Viets use the Last than first name too.

 

i know a few nguyen girls in my university...they were friendly and pretty....5 of them and 3 were nguyens...guess it's very common surname

 

LMAO I think Nguyens' are sexy and I want all of them, damn I discover 2 new ones everyday, hell even 10 of my close buddies are Nguyens, and they're all sexy, I wanna catch em' all. Btw. I am not a Nguyen I'm a Quach, not pronounced crotch.

 

Lol. I love it when people butcher the last name "Quach".. I know people with that last name and it's funny to see white people pronounce it.

most of vietnamese last names are nguyen are tran, its like chan for chinese, knew lots and lots of nguyen's and tran's in my life lol.

 

i know like around 20~ people with the last name Nguyen. If you want to know why there is that many people with the Nguyen as their last name its because a long time ago there was a king with the name Nguyen. Then a lot of people changed that last name to Nguyen. And that is how the Nguyen last name became so common.

 

Throughout my life, I've come across a lot of people with that last name. It's very common, just like the Chinese surnames Chan and Wong.

 

i know a LOT of nguyens... and my mom's one of them. but not including her.. my aunt is one... haha and they arent related. and then there's a bunch of my friends... and one of my exs. my high school math teacher... and so on.

 

Not including family, I probably know 50+ Nguyens.

I guess thats a popular viet surname then and also maybe 'tran' ?

don't mix Chinese surnames into Vietnamese surnames, man...
I believe Quach, Huynh, Hoang are Chinese surnames...
Nguyen last name is popular at the South and Middle VN except the North...

 

Is Huynh and Nguyen the same surname? Everytime I see the 2 I could swear they are the same. I'll have to ask my mom.
