i don't think this fool deserves pity.no need to hide the story of why he hasn't come back to hk b/c he was with his family. this coward has been hiding while all the others are suffering. this fool probably is quitting hk entertainment industry because gangsters are after him or it's a stunt for fans to start cheering for him again when he comes back later on into the industry.
I agree with various comments above... he shoulda shown respect and spoken in Chinese... He's got hhis own clothing line, he sucks at singing so he can retire the HK ent industry.. he's oprolly gonna go to hollywood (grudge 2 etc) and other places like that..personally i dont think muchh of him. I like*sarcasm* the way @ the end he says stuff like "we need to protect the younng" etc except he's pretty much gor a Chigga image.... The girls were stupid but the media shouldn't have hyped it up so much! anyways that's my opnion..
I think people are angry at the wrong person. I don't think its Edisons fault. You gotta feel sorry for the guy. The pics he's taken was personal, don't forget that he took his computer in for repair, and the poeple stole those personal photos!!! to in actual fact its the computer guys that are in the wrong! its basically stealing!! its not like he intended it to go out to the public, otherwise these pics would have been out a long time ago! its just some poeple here are saying that he's a bad person, but cmon guys!! some might say yeah he shouldn't have taken the pics inthe first place....well...you know what? thats his choice! and its not like the girls involved were forced to take those pictures!!! i'm sure you guys do things in private that you don't want ppl to see either! so i realy think ppl who lay blame on ed is really not justified.

Well, his absence also gave the media (and Hong Kong in general) the chance to deride him to their heart's content... And in case you don't know, there are EXACTLY 3 fans present at his press con (all three are from mainland China, as reported by Ming Pao) I would blame the sick model of how idols/celebrities are EXPECTED to be role model of childrens, they are not some Disney Channel kid, anyone who thinks these stars are pure and innocent as their image suggested should get their brain checked, though I suspect it would ring up quite the medical bill in Hong Kong. I certainly think that he could (and should) have hold this press con sooner and keep the scandal at bay (since his admittance to ownership of those photos = free pass for legal action), but he really isn't the ONLY person who is showing delayed reaction there... But whatever, I don't particularly like him/his acting/singing, so no loss to me. I wonder, except for Vincy Yeung who is significantly younger than Edison Chen (even in her case, she was legal as far as I know), I don't think Edison is shown to be a pedophile or whatnot. Claiming that he preys on the young is not entirely sound argument there since there's no actual proof that he is involved with an underage (as least not yet)... On the other hand, I remember there was some fine prints with Disney actor/actress about their dubious conducts, which makes Hudgens not only liable to her own loss, but loss of Disney as well... Plus, I don't think Edison was a product geared towards the underaged, so no fault there... The same blame can be placed on the media for sensationalizing the scandal...
He doesn't know Cantonese as great as most of you think he is. Well this has been beaten to death. TO compare speech with speech is ridiculous. He made a closing and that's all there is to it. Copyright issues are up to the law to decide and argue. If they do hold true in the circumstances and jurisdiction, they will sue, but even so the settlements behind doors and the arbitration are a puzzle to outsiders. But who is really the man behind it? Who is really KIRA? Are they the same? I'm guessing there's a bunch of affiliates.
Well, his Cantonese isn't that superb (many people have criticized his Cantonese previously), and I'm quite sure he can't write elegantly enough to make himself sound convincing. After all, he's CBC, and I'm quite sure many CBC's can write FORMAL enough to present to hundreds of people *sarcasm*. For example, when you're watching news, they don't speak as it is, rather, speak in writing. By doing it in English, he has larger vocabulary, able to express himself better, and shows that he wrote the speech himself.
Even though I kind of doubt that he wrote the entire speech himself, I think you are totally right in assessing the circumstances... *thumbs up*

yup, i agree 100% with u- the embarassing thing, is everyone got caught with their pants down...and now, ppls know and unfortunately it messed up their personal life, but everyone's got a past, so i think they should just move on....
why is it such a big deal that it was in english? gillian did hers in cantonese and it sucked ass and was godawful and about as insincere as it gets. the boy speaks english. that is his native language. i speak cantonese fluently and have no problem getting it out but if given the option, would choose to do it in english. he can't read chinese either. yeah, he coulda memorized it but can u imagine how much stress and shit he is already under? if i knew there was a rumour that someone wants my hands for half a million, i wouldn't be able to walk properly, let alone give a speech. omg, i can't believe i'm sticking up for edison.
truth be told edison got guts and admited right infront of everyone, he deservs some sympathy. unlike someone else that only act as a puppet and cry whenever problems go near her, "我很傻很天真" thats ah gil for you lol

to say the truth, i dont think anyone of us really cared about the NAKED photos....i mean we might just view it then think nothing of it, either we will delete them or keep them in our computers...anyways thats not my point...my point is if only the HK media didnt make such a big fuss of it, making it headlines of newspapers and magazines for over 2 weeks, then there wont be so much exposure...to say the truth, you can call me "slow" but i really didnt know about the pictures until i first saw it in the newspaper headlines...then cause they keep reporting it, people become more and more curious and we go searching for it online... The media keeps putting the blame on Edison as if he has made bad influence on HK people or the younger generation, but its the media who keeps reporting it, giving so much exposure of the pictures to the public...even though they were sensored, most picture become more curious of exactly what the unsensored photo look like... I believe it would be hard for him to retain his status in the HK showbiz but having to leave cos of a stupid scandal is really not worth it For the REAL people behind this whole scandal they probably have got what they have set out for...ruining all the images of all the people involved....when i say this i do mean "Ah Gil" who was (note my past tense) a money tree grower for EEG...
