Heyys,,,, My dad THINKS he can fix EVERYTHING and put together EVERYTHING without instructions.. and HATES it if someone told him he put this part in the wrong place (eventhough it WAS the wrong place) .. or.. wen he finishes "TRYING" anyone to comment "but it still isnt fixed" will tick him off >.<"! and ive realised all my uncles do too... so just wondering.. is it jst my dad and my uncles.. or is it most chinese dads? -mellow
lol wtf? but seriously i think they expect the children to fix stuff haha, like when a TV is weird, and u go 'i dunno how to fix it ' and they're like wtf, i pay for u to go to school and u dont know how to fix a tv/? but i dont fink my dad is like that =P
lol i get that a few times, but on random stuff that i cant do personally i find most old school asian parents fix everything themselves cause they too cheap to get it repaired or buy a new one
LMFAO my dad is the same way but the thing is he DOES know how to fix things, he taught himself a lot, and im right there learning so i don't have to fucking pay $100 for some guy to connect pipe to dryer.... yeah anyways.... but yeah my dad always think the teachers in the US teach us etiqutte or something lol XD but yeah.... that is probably why asian people are so damn smart thogh we learn to do things ourselves and save our money for other important things
YESHHHHH MY BABA'S LIKE THAT TOOOO....>.< HE BROKE LIKE 3 DVD PLAYERS 2 HI-FI'S...... ANOTHER TIME WHEN HE TRIED TO FIX THE DOOR HANDLE = DOES DOES NOT CLOSE NOW..... GAHHHH I GET THAT TOOO..... I ACTUALLY HAD TO GO ON TOP OF THE ROOF TO FIX THE TV AERIALWHEN IT GOT BLOWN DOWN LAST TIME.....
alright everyone..its simple...men dont' read instructions..we just do it and get it done...maybe not the right way..but it gets done...hahaha
most men are like that!! too stubborn to ask for help and dont want to lose "face" if they read instructions. thank god my dad is not like that!! he would bring stuff out to get fixed but he did like to build things. no one takes negative feedback well especially if they put time and effort into something.
OMG my dad does the same thing so does my grandpa but they end up like screwing the whole thing up and then we have to go and buy a whole new one or they pull out the super duck tape and super glue that fixes everything to them i swear the stupid soap rack thing in my bath room has been ducked taped super glued over and over untill one day my mom fliped out and called some guy to come and put a new one and like other stuff in the house is like that too and if they cant fix it they freak out and get really mad and thats when the duck tape and super glue comes in
I don't agree being a parent myself.. my wife (Phd) read and look at the confusing instruction and still get everything wrong, so she ask for my help to fix it. Just a mere observation, I am able to put things together in less than 2 minutes without even needing to read any freaking instructuion or manual. The point is, if this is a quick one, RTFM is not necessary. If you spend too much time, then perhaps it is wiser to RTFM. But then, I am consider more versatile getting things done. sort of the self taught handyman in the house. headbang2 I guess the idea is one need to know their own limitation. If it's something that goes over their head, then they might want to seek professional help.
Parent: lol Wtf, I pay for u to go to School and u cant Fix Pipes Us:we dont learn how to fix pipes at school Parent: Screw u , when we were ur age we had to fix everything lol, lol i dont think chinese dads trust people to fix their things for them i mean, after they heard bout the edison news, when ur comp breaks down, they're gunna be like, NO way , didnt u learn from Edison, people take ur pics and put on the net !!!
yeah, I understand that feeling. My relative think I learn how to do high power electrical wiring simply because I major in Electrical Engineering... and supposely able to become professional programmer simply because I take Computer Science classes.
^ RIGHT..... the flargon!! lol im in computer engineering and they automatically assume i assemble PC's .... no... i build circuits for chips and PCB's! But then again electric work is kind in there too.... but im not an electrician....
My dad can also fix alot of stuff. The only problem would be that he can't fix anything relating to computers, dvd players, ps2, ..etc.
Er... I'm a Dad and I DO fix everything, every computer we've had since 1994 is home built, along with general household wiring and plumbing too. The thing that gets me is that none of my kids (and I got three) seem to have an inkling about how the world around them got that way, and how to maintain it. I suspect that this had a lot to do with upbringing and choices of toys and entertainment. When I was growing up, I was happy with a tool box, looking for things to rip apart and put together again. That toolbox was the playstation or Xbox of my generation. Being able to rip out a compressor or install a new kitchen sink was our version of a level boss. And while my kids can nonchalantly brag about "one shot - one kill" in Halo, I actually had to carry an M16 and take long walks in the woods. Sure, electronics are great and they're wonderful time savers. But I can't help but get the sense that many kids today don't even know what they're missing, as they think that the entire world is just what they see on that flat panel. Sign of the times I guess and frankly I'm a bit disappointed. To all those with Dads who try to fix everything but can't? Do yourself a favor; buy your Dad a fix it book for his birthday. You'll see his eyes light up because you've finally understood him. Ralph
guess it all depends on the kids interests. Ive always grew up wanting to know how things work and taking things apart etc, guess thats why im becoming an engineer but some people just dont care as long as it does the job. Plus these days when something breaks you just throw it away and buy a new one
