I don't know about other countries.. but I for damn sure think it sucks to be asian in America.

    Why?!

Ok, first of all. Being an immigrant is hard enough. There are so many people who want the immigrants out of America. These people are so ignorant! Immigrants help the economy! They all think they're losing money because immigrants are over here "stealing" their jobs. Please! They're here to help YOU out. Because you people are so damn picky and won't even do those jobs offered to you. Immigrants are the people who should be pissed! They're getting paid so little and get taken advantage of.

Also, in America everyone is seperated in two groups, right? Whites vs. Minority. But where do the Asians fit in? The minority (blacks, latinos, etc.) doesn't like us and picks on us (well I don't get picked on, but you get what I mean) because they think we're all rich and arrogant like white people. Whites don't care about us because they just think of us as "chinamen." Just another addition to the minority below their feet. Perfect example: It is so rare to see a successful asian american actor/actress. There are plenty of white, black, and latino actors/actresses. Where all the asians at?! Where do the asians fit? We don't even have a place in America. Everybody dislikes us.

And these people make it seem like Asians aren't allow to be better than them at anything but math/maybe academics. It is just so rare to seem Asians succeed in the entertainment area. Oh wow, America's Best Dance crew. Half of America is probably cringing at the fact that Jabbawockeez (mainly Asian) won their little contest. Shit, I feel like they only let them win because they had no other choice. They would have had so many complaints because people actually judged by real talent. If Status Quo (black group) really had some creative talent they probably would have won. Why? Because they can't let the Asians beat them at dancing! It was so clear that Jabbawockeez and Kaba Modern (all asians) were the better of the last three but they just had to save Status Quo and call them the top group because they had to kick at least one of the Asian groups off the show. They only did Jabbawockeez vs. Kaba Modern because they knew they could get one of them off the show. If it was Status Quo vs. either of them, Status Quo is dead!

And now, the filipino girl, Ramiele Malubay got kicked off American Idol! :( American Idol sucks too. They aren't good with anything for asians unless they're trying to make fun of them (William Hung).

So what yall think? What about those of you in other countries? Whats it like to be an Asian there?

    *edit*
omg, ok, I'm a little over the top with this, I know. But a rant isn't a rant if you dont get to take it out full force.

i think your view of the world is just a tad morbid.

i can see where you're coming from but i dont think its quite that bad... i live and canada and people here usually have very little tolerance for racial discrimination (on the surface anyways) on the inside... EVERYONE is racist to some degree ... btw i thought status quo deserved the win over kaba modern on ep 6 and jabbawockeez were the clear winners... so no argument here

    1. I never said Jabbawockeez didn't deserve to win. I am just saying I think Kaba Modern deserved to stay more than Status Quo.
    2. I clearly stated that I don't get make fun of, but there are a lot who do!
    3. :wtf:WTF?? NO. I'm not getting racist. and NO. Nothing happened to me. (wtf @ that)
    4. I'm not blaming all the whites, don't put words in my mouth now. Nowhere in my post did I say OMG THE WHITES THEY ARE HERE TO ATTACK US! TAKE COVER AND GET YOUR WEAPONS READY! -nono<_< I didn't blame anyone, in fact. All I'm saying is that it sucks to be Asian in America because everyone sees us in a different way and no one cares. -mellow Read it over, will you.

I said America. Not the world. Okay, I admit. Maybe I was a little over the top. But what's a rant when you can't say what you want with full force? :p lmao, I'm like.. you know how feminists think everything target females? Bwahahaha.. I'm like the asian-ist.

well yeah we gotta admit that everyone is a little racist, and that isn't something that's going to change

its very true that there are some people in the world who think like that, but it doesn't happen all the time. and not everyone is really that ignorant. i mean there seems like asians don't really make it in the entertainment business, but that's just speculation. no one ever proved that they don't because people are against them

If you keep thinking the world is against you then nothing will change. Chin up and look at the good things in your life. I'm sure not everyone in the U.S. is ignorant.

No, I know its not because they're against them. More like they don't really care for them. Its only recently that they're starting to come out more.

lol fuuuck, asians own so much of the american economy. If you look at American government debt, they owe hundreds of billions of dollars to China, its actually hilarious.

lol I dont know what your problem is with asians not being in the american entertainment industry either. There are a fair amount of asian people in movies, albeit they are almost never the lead character. But when you think about what the american entertainment industry is built around. Hollywood is always about epics, with the hunky white hero saving the day. There might be no major leading asian males in the industry, but that is only because its not good business to cast an asian dude. As long as hollywood is hollywood, they will continue with the formula that works. Not because it is racist, but because it makes money.

If i was full asian and living in america, my problem would probably just be with the american melting pot philosophy. I cant stand the american mentality of 'get american or get the fuck out'. People deserve to live how they want to live and be who they want to be. Its one of the reasons I appreicate being canadian, if you ever travel to Tdot or vancouver, you'll truly see why canada is known for its multiculturalism.

Ultimately the 'asian plight' is no worse than the plights of black, native, mexican americans. Every race has been subjugated at some point in history.... maybe with the exception of white british people... not sure.

Being asian in america might be more difficult than some places in the world, i dont know. As someone from San Francisco, there is alot of history of Asian subjugation there, but there is also a huge story of how asian people overcame their status quo as almost sub human laborers, to owning businesses, obtaining rights as citizens, and becoming integral to the city of SF. In fact, as a chinese person in san francisco, you should know better than anyone that asian people can overcome almost anything to do well in any environment.

Well I'm not really looking at this as a person living in SF, rather than an American in general. Other than SF, NY, and a couple other urban cities, America is tough. Like you said with the "get american or get the fuck out" thing. If you don't follow their rules and do it their way you are not accepted, no exceptions.

Yeah, I know Asians aren't the only targets but its like.. people never really discuss this you know? I was in a class called that talks about struggles of colored women and we were reading about a chinese immigrant and stuff. Then, someone dares to say "who cares about the chinese people. Blacks and latinos are the ones who get it bad." I thought it was that one person.. and next thing I know my teacher tells me someone from her other period said something like that too. And in other classes they always like to group the Asians with the Whites like we're really any better. (I go to a school thats more of helping lower-class urban kids)

I mean, I'm not really saying America is racist. More like.. this issue just floats by everyone's mind and no one cares and ignores it.

lol i cant stand the 'our people had it worse' game.

black man: "My people were treated as slaves by white people"

jewish man: "My people underwent genocide at the hands of the germans'

chinese man: "white people came into our country and exploited us, then chinese people were lured to america under false pretenses and forced to build a railroad as slaves"

    Japanese man: "We got nuked."

Mexican man: "I jumped the boarder expecting good opportunities, and all I got was a job at this lousy taco stand"

I'll fall back on fearless for this debate... tired after the last one... but just wanted to point out two things...

    1) To add on to what Fearless said, San Fran's Cheif of Police's an Asian woman... so plz don't say being an Asian in America sucks... u might have to work harder... but which minority doesn't?... btw hispanics are the majority in Cali...

    2) Kaba Modern got dropped cuz they're a second west coast crew... not cuz they're Asian... yes they were better than Status Quo, but they were dropped in favor of an East vs West coast battle for ratings... if it was truly a racist move, they woulda dropped Kaba earlier since they were a 100% Asian crew afterall...

    exactly..

anyways the thing about asians in the entertainment field.. there are plenty of people, sure not as much as the latinos and african americans and others.. but there are. you are correct when you say that it was not until recently that asians artists were popular.however, I don't think that this is due to white people being racist. In movies and on television, there aren't many roles that call for an asian man or woman. In music, I agree that there aren't many asian musicians, looking at American Idol, Ramiele Malubay got booted, but in season 3 Jasmine Trias , also filipino was in the final three. Also there are plenty of people in other aspects of entertainment Amy Tan is a successful author and Vera Wang is a successful fashion mogul.

  15. don't worry yall my album drops this summer.. bout to represent for the asians.. -cool2

as an alia (asian living in america), i think what you're talking about are extreme racial views. or maybe i just happen to live in an especially diverse (and therefore more accepting of diff ethnicities) place. as for the entertainment industry, i don't know if this occurred to you: maybe asians would rather make a difference in the world through other occupations and genuinely have no interest in being famous? or maybe their acting skills aren't up to par? and why are we trying to be "better than [other people]"?

life is life. if someone comes up to my face and calls me a chink, maybe i'd get angry; that would be racist. if everybody kept on rattling on and on all the different offenses supposedly "made" against their ethnicities, this world would be filled with a lot more bitter and angry people. your ethnicity does not entirely define who you are. you are who you are and when other people realize that, they'll respect you for your character.

I also find that most Asians when abroad dont like to integrate a lot with other races, its kinda like Asians stick with Asians

Now that may be due to factors like they think White people wont accept them or will discriminate them, or they cant speak the language or preconceptions and stereotypes that make Asians only wana mix with Asians

Coupled with ignorance on everyones part, segregation and hate is always gonna become a problem

i thought you guys had this huge 'asian pride' stuff going down there

anyway i think you're probably being a bit paranoid with the whole asian dance crew on abdc i mean "Half of America is probably cringing at the fact that Jabbawockeez (mainly Asian) won their little contest." Those who watched this show were most likely to be interested in dance themselves, and so they'll realize it's not about the race, but if you're talented enough- so i'd doubt they'd be cringing! also isn't it more about the class rather than race? hmm.. don't know about that in the states! in uk it doesn't really seem like a problem.. with me anyway, i just get on with people who gets on with me- if you're white or another ethnicity that doesn't get on with me then it's simply just a personality clash or something/or just cultural differences.

"It is just so rare to seem Asians succeed in the entertainment area" Maybe there aren't as many asians that go down this route- i mean you know asians, especially chinese- the majority of them (parents) want their kids to do something more 'stable' (stereotypical i know but that's how it is). I mean look how big Hikki is over there, and she's collaberated with artists- what about Jin? Maybe there's only a handful of them but there are some.. there aren't many asians who compete in XFactor over here (show similar to Pop Idol) because they've probably got something better to do, not because the judges don't want them because they're asian..

Maybe this ''problem'' is more evident in the states! Not much here tho'
